LIGHTING APPARATUS
20210077219 · 2021-03-18 ·

A lighting apparatus for use as a surgical headlamp is disclosed. A light emitting diode is positioned in a recess within a frustoconical, thermally-conductive heat sink that has a several circumferential ridges to provide a desired surface area for heat transfer. The diode and the heat sink are provided in a housing that also includes a fan for drawing ambient air into the housing to contact the heat sink and exhausting heated air. A lens is snap-fit into a slide that frictionally engages the interior of the housing, allowing a user to adjust the spacing between the light emitting diode and the lens as desired. Personal cooling apparatuses usable with the lighting apparatus are also described. Auxiliary undergown switches are also described as are personal cooling apparatuses.

Cooling or heating neckband

The cooling and heating neckband is adapted for use with a person. The person is further defined with a head and a neck. The cooling and heating neckband is worn by the person. The cooling and heating neckband transfers heat to and from the person to make the person more comfortable. The cooling and heating neckband comprises a heat transfer structure, a foam layer, and a covering structure. The heat transfer structure is an apparatus that transfers heat to and from the person during physical activity. The foam layer is a cushion that covers the heat transfer structure. The covering structure is a textile-based structure. The heat transfer structure and the foam layer are inserted in the covering structure. The covering structure attaches the cooling and heating neckband to the person.

Dermal heatsink exhibiting hydrophilic and contaminant resistant properties and method for fabricating a dermal heatsink
10820652 · 2020-11-03 · ·

One variation of a method for fabricating a dermal heatsink includes: fabricating a substrate defining an interior surface, an exterior surface opposite the interior surface, and an open network of pores extending between the interior surface and the exterior surface; activating surfaces of the substrate and walls of the open network of pores; applying a coating over the substrate to form a heatsink, the coating comprising a porous, hydrophilic material and defining a void network; removing an excess of the coating from the substrate to clear blockages within the open network of pores by the coating; hydrating the heatsink during a curing period; heating the heatsink during the curing period to increase porosity of the coating applied over surfaces of the substrate; and rinsing the heatsink with an acid to decarbonate the coating along walls of the open network of pores in the substrate.

Perspiration Absorption/Prevention Headband Device with Cooling Means
20200253307 · 2020-08-13 ·

A perspiration absorption/prevention device designed for use in medical applications, specifically for use by surgeons or other medical personnel. The device is preferably comprised of a headband base member, an absorbent pad, a pocket member and a cooling means stored therein, but may further comprise an adjustment means for further securing the device to a user's forehead or neck area. The cooling means prevents the formation of perspiration on the user, and fatigue generally. Further, any perspiration that does form is quickly absorbed by the absorbent pad before it can drip from the user and onto the patient, surgical tools, etc. The absorbent pad is both detachable from the remainder of the device, and disposable. In this manner, the remainder of the device can be recycled or reused, costs may be lowered and medical waste reduced.

A head wrap is an apparatus that is used to protect and decorate a user's head. The apparatus includes a head-bracing body, an elastic strip, a first lateral tail, a second lateral tail, a first intermediate tail, a second intermediate tail, a plurality of ornaments, and a ventilation mechanism. The head-bracing body is the primary coverage means for the back of the user's head. The elastic strip connects to the head-bracing body to allow the head-bracing body to expand in order to fit different head sizes. The first lateral tail, second lateral tail, first intermediate tail, and second intermediate tail each connect to the head-bracing body, allowing for coverage of the user's head. The at least one ornament relates to a decorative unit or several units capable of being tied to the first lateral tail, second lateral tail, first intermediate tail, and second intermediate tail as a means of displaying the decorative pattern. The plurality of ventilation holes allows for heat trapped between the present invention and the user's head to escape.
