Expandable switch sensors with expandable magnetic actuators
A modular sensing system for determining the relative lineal position between a first object and a second object includes an array of switch units fixed with the first object and an array of magnet units fixed with the second object. Each switch unit contains an electric circuit that includes a switch, a resistor, and conductors arranged to convey electricity from one of a pair of front connectors to one of a pair of rear connectors, and from the other front connector to the other rear connector through either the resistor or the switch when the switch is closed. The switch is normally open but closed when proximate one of the magnet units, each of which houses a magnet. Resistance between a pair of wires of a first switch unit in the array is related to the relative linear position between the arrays of switch units and magnet units.
DIFFERENTIAL LOCK/UNLOCK POSITION DETECTION
A sensor assembly configured for use with a locking differential received in a differential case includes a sensor housing, a switch element and a sense element. The sensor assembly is configured to determine a position of an armature in relation to a stator. The armature moves relative to the stator between engaged and disengaged positions corresponding to the locking differential being in a locked and unlocked state. The sensor housing is coupled relative to the differential case of the locking differential. The switch element is disposed in the sensor housing. The sense element moves with the armature. The sensor assembly is configured to change state based on a position of the sense element.
Position determining sensor unit
A position determining sensor unit having a number of sensors arranged at predetermined positions along a path, and a transducer. The transducer has a first end which is moveable at least along the entire path, and a length running parallel to the path. Each sensor has a first supply voltage connection, a second supply voltage connection and a switching output, and wherein the switching output is switched into an On-state or an Off-state as a function of the threshold value of a sensor signal being exceeded or undershot. The supply voltage connection of each sensor is connected to a supply voltage, and a first sensor is arranged at a beginning of the path and a last sensor is arranged at an end of the path so that the second supply voltage connection of the first sensor is connected to a reference potential and the first sensor has a power consumption.
Bicycle electric device
A bicycle electric device is basically provided to a bicycle crank assembly. The bicycle electric device includes an indicator a process and at least one of a position sensor and a strain sensor configured to be provided on the bicycle crank assembly. The indicator is configured to generate a user signal indicating that a crank arm of the bicycle crank assembly is at a predetermined angular position. The position sensor the strain sensor are configured to be provided on the bicycle crank assembly to detect information of the crank arm. The processor is configured to process information detected by the at least one of the position sensor and the strain sensor to calculate angular force information of the crank arm.
Control rod position indication system for a nuclear reactor
A control rod position indication system is for a nuclear reactor with a reactor core and at least one control rod which is movable along a linear path of movement for controlling reactivity of the core. The system includes a permanent magnet mounted on the control rod or a corresponding drive rod, and a number of reed switches arranged around the path of movement in order to be switched by a magnetic field generated by the permanent magnet when passing by. The permanent magnet has a north-south axis whose orientation is constant during movement, and the respective reed switch has a number of reed contacts which are aligned along a longitudinal axis. The longitudinal axis of at least one reed switch is inclined relative to the north-south axis of the permanent magnet, and the angle of inclination has an absolute value within a range from 15 to 65 degrees.
Position determining unit
A position determining unit is provided that has a number of sensor units arranged at positions along a path, and a transducer. Each sensor unit has a carrier, a first and second supply voltage connection, a switching output, a measuring unit and a bias magnet comprising two poles. The measuring unit is arranged on the carrier and has at least one magnetic field sensor, wherein the switching output is switched into an On or Off-state as a function of a threshold value exceeding or falling short of a sensor signal. The first supply voltage connection of each sensor unit is connected to a supply voltage, wherein a first sensor unit is arranged at a beginning of the path and a last sensor unit is arranged at the end of the path. The second supply voltage connection of the first sensor unit is connected to a reference potential.
Meter Register
A method and apparatus for measuring a fluid and determining a leak comprising the steps of providing a meter and a meter register coacting with the meter. When a leak is detected, a signal is transmitted from the meter register regarding fluid consumption. The transmitted signal indicates a leak either when the measured flow rate remains a fixed volume over a fixed period of time, or the measured flow rate exceeds a threshold value.
POSITION DETECTION DEVICE
A position detection device includes two detection systems that are respectively fed from power supply systems different from each other, and displace together with a shift lever. Each detection system can output detection patterns with four digits. A detection pattern when being located at a given position is different from a detection pattern when being located at another position. In any detection pattern, outputs of certain two digits among the four digits are set so as to be identical to each other, and to be different from outputs of two other digits. Alternatively, outputs of certain three digits among the four digits are set to be identical to each other, and to be different from an output of another digit.
Meter register and utility meter having wireless remote reading arrangement
A meter register is disclosed herein, the meter register having a register body and a face cap secured to a cup forming an internal cavity, the face cap is sealed to the register body, a microprocessor and an antenna to transmit radio waves that is electrically coupled to the microprocessor are both contained within the internal cavity. A self-contained power source is coupled to the antenna, and a sensor is coupled to the microprocessor and adapted to sense movement of water through a meter. The microprocessor, power source, and sensor are contained within the internal cavity, and the internal cavity is at a different pressure than atmospheric pressure, and environmentally separated from the external atmosphere such that the antenna transmits from the antenna meter volume measurements. A utility meter having the aforementioned meter register is also disclosed.
Rotation angle detection sensor
A rotation angle detection sensor detects the rotation angle of a rotating part attached to a structure including a fixed part and a rotating part that rotates around a rotary shaft. The rotation angle detection sensor includes a reed switch attached to the fixed or rotating part with reeds placed near the rotary shaft. An annular magnet is attached to the rotating or fixed part. A magnetic circuit is formed with respect to the reed switch, with its central axis arranged concentrically with the rotary shaft. When the magnet rotates around the central axis with respect to the reed switch, if the same poles of the magnet are lined up in the longitudinal direction of the reed switch, the reed switch is turned off. If opposite poles of the magnet are lined up in the longitudinal direction of the reed switch, the reed switch is turned on.
