Method for providing a singling device of a storage and dispensing container

A method for providing a singling device of a storage and dispensing container for drug portions is provided. A singling device is adapted to a specific drug portion based on the measurement of the drug portion. The measurement is obtained by generating at least one image of a to-be-measured drug portion by a detection device and using image analysis to process the at least one image. Drug information for the specific drug portion is determined, the drug information including at least the dimensions of the specific drug portion. Based on the determined drug information, a singling device fitting the drug portion to be singularized is identified and provided for use in the storage and dispensing container. A system for identifying a singling device is also provided.

A system includes a storage and dispensing container for drug portions, a memory and a processor. The process executes instructions to detect by a first detection device rays of light transmitted past a drug portion by a first light emitting source in a first direction, to detect by a second detection device rays of light transmitted past the drug portion by a second light emitting source in a second direction different from the first direction, to generate, by the first and second detection devices, an image of the drug portion, to process the image using image analysis, to determine specified drug information for the drug portion and to identify, based on the determined drug information, a suitable singling device fitting the drug portions to be singularized and to be disposed within the storage and dispensing container. Additional systems for identifying a singling device are also provided.

Control knob with optical shaft encoder and visual feedback of angular position

A control knob assembly for a consumer appliance is provided. The control knob assembly provides a compact means for determining the angular position of the control knob and illuminating a plurality of indicators to communicate that angular position to a user of the appliance. More specifically, the control knob assembly includes an optical encoder disc that defines a plurality of teeth that are in operable communication with a plurality of optical sensors. The position of the sensors and the spacing of the plurality of teeth are configured to generate signals as the control knob is rotated that allow for the precise determination of the angular position of the control knob. Moreover, the optical encoder disc may fit inside a lighting assembly and may have a low profile, resulting in a compact control knob assembly that may easily fit within the area underneath the control knob and control panel.

Door position sensor and system for a vehicle

A system for determining a door condition includes a hinge including a first portion coupled with a door and a second portion coupled with a vehicle frame and rotatably coupled with the first portion. The system further includes a sensor outputting a signal related to a position of the first portion relative to the second portion and a controller receiving the signal and determining whether the signal corresponds to a door closed condition or a door open condition.

DUAL CHANNEL MEDICAL SIMULATOR

An apparatus for simulating an insertion of an elongated instrument into a subject, comprising: a frame extending between two end walls along a first axis and two lateral walls along a second axis, one of the two end walls being provided with an insertion aperture and one of the two lateral walls being provided an insertion hole, the insertion aperture defining a first passageway and the insertion hole defining a second passageway, the first and second passageways intersecting each other at an intersection point; and a sensing unit contained within the frame and configured for measuring at least one of a displacement of the elongated member and a rotation of the elongated member, the sensing unit being positioned adjacent to the intersection point for performing the measurement of the at least one of the displacement and the rotation at the intersection point.

The latch detection system and latch detection method disclosed herein determines an orientation of one or more latches used to secure cargo in a cargo hold, and thus improves latch security and cargo transportation safety. To that end, aspects presented herein provide an optical latch detection system that detects whether one or more latches are in the locked or unlocked orientation. More particularly, aspects presented herein rely on a reflective laser system to determine the orientation of one or more latches based on the amount of reflected light detected by the laser system. In so doing, the disclosed latch detection system provides a reliable and repeatable option for determining the orientation of latch(es) in a cargo hold.

A position sensor employing silicon photodiodes formed from trapezoidal chips mounted on a printed circuit board detects angular positions of a rotor shaft within a galvanometer-based optical scanner.

Media flag

In one example, a media flag is disclosed. The media flag can rotate between a first position and a second position. The media flag translates parallel with the axis of rotation as the media flag rotates from the first position to the second position.

Optical knife-edge detector with large dynamic range

A detection arrangement and method for directing the sensitivity of an optical knife-edge detection system to its optimal operating point. This is referred to as an increase in the detection dynamic range of the system with advantageous applications for detecting motion of a surface such as for Atomic Force Microscopy as well as detecting acoustic vibrations on unstable surfaces. A pair of parallel reflecting surfaces, such as an optical slab waveguide, serve to reflect the sensing beam back onto the knife-edge detector once it is shifted off its sensing range. Allowing multiple reflections, the sensing beam is maintained on the knife-edge detector even at large angular offsets from the optimal operating point of the basic knife-edge detector. Use of a modified arrangement, with two knife-edge detectors at quadrature ensures near-optimal sensitivity at a detection dynamic range up to forty-fold larger than that of the basic knife-edge system.
