There is provided a liquid level sensor apparatus that has particular and beneficial application in a fuel tank, such as a saddle-tank used in automotive vehicles comprising first and second fuel compartments. The liquid level sensor apparatus is for determining a level or quantity of fuel therein. The liquid level sensor apparatus comprises means for issuing an electrical signal indicative of a level or quantity of liquid, such as a sender unit comprising a motion-responsive potentiometer. Additionally there is provided a first float assembly that is moveable in response to a first liquid level. The first float assembly is coupled directly to said means such that in response to movement of the first float assembly an electrical characteristic of said means is affected and an electrical signal issued by said means is indicative of said first liquid level. Furthermore, there is provided a second float assembly that is moveable in response to a second liquid level. The second float assembly is indirectly coupled to said means and in such a way that in response to movement of the second float assembly an electrical characteristic of said means is affected and an electrical signal issued by said means is indicative of said second liquid level.

Filling level indicator

A filling level indicator includes a retainer, a bow rotatably supported on the retainer and having a lever arm fastened thereto, a float fastened to the lever arm, and a filling level sensor arranged in the retainer. The filling level sensor has a substrate, a resistance network arranged thereon, a contact spring structure, and a cover, connected to the substrate, that covers the resistance network and the contact spring structure. A magnet is connected to the bow or the lever arm and acts on the contact spring structure such that an electrical signal corresponding to the filling level is generated according to the pivoting range. The mount has a wall thickness that can be penetrated by the magnetic field of the magnet, and so metal particles are held on the outside of the mount by the magnetic field of the magnet.

A liquid level sensor 1 comprises a sleeve 2 disposed so as to extend in the vertical direction, a float 3 configured so as to move along said sleeve according to fluctuation of liquid level, a resistor string 4, a plurality of grounding means 5 disposed inside the sleeve 2 and a liquid level signal output means 6 to take out an electric signal detected between a positive electrode side end part 4a and a junction part grounded by the grounding means 5 as a liquid level signal that is a signal corresponding to the liquid level, and further comprises a warning signal output means 7 to output a warning signal when the float 3 is located within a predetermined distance from a warning position that is a predetermined position within a movable range of the float 3. Thereby, a compact and reliable liquid level sensor is realized.

Level sensor for continuous level detection and integration into process control system

The disclosed techniques enable the installation of a level sensor capable of continuously detecting a level of fluid in a vessel or tank and capable of being integrated in a larger control system. Advantageously, sensor head of the disclosed level sensor can be installed on existing installations with an existing displacer or float and an existing member or rod. The disclosed techniques thus enable process plants to easily and affordably replace pneumatic level sensors with a more environmentally friendly option.

Vehicle fuel level estimation

Estimating a fuel consumption includes receiving a request for estimating the fuel consumption between a first time and a second time; estimating a first fuel consumption value in a first time interval using fuel-sender resistance data; estimating a second fuel consumption value in a second time interval using fuel-injected mass data, where the first time interval and the second time interval are consecutive, non-overlapping intervals; and combining at least the first fuel consumption value and the second fuel consumption value to obtain a fuel consumption value.

Filling level indicator

A filling level indicator for determining a filling level in a tank, having a resistor network, a contact element, and a magnetic element. The contact element is arranged spaced apart from the resistor network, and the magnetic element can be moved relative to the resistor network and the contact element. An electrically conductive connection can be established between the contact element and the resistor network by deflecting the contact element. A plastic spacer element is arranged between the resistor network and the contact element and is hot-swaged to the resistor network and/or to the contact element.
