Melt Blown Dressing with Gradient Density
The present invention is directed to an absorbable hemostatic nonwoven patch that utilizes a biocompatible substrate comprised of melt-blown microfibers as webbed sheets that are layered and bonded/entangled in descending density and ascending porosity; with the substrate having a high flexibility, strength and porosity that is suitable for coating cross-linkable active molecules and ability for laparoscopic use or trocar deployment, ultimately for functional use as a highly effective hemostat in addressing problematic bleeding during both open and minimally invasive surgical procedures.
COMPOUND (MULTI-LAYER) WATERPROOF BANDAGE
One embodiment of a waterproof bandage for reliably protecting sensitive sites from water intrusion, despite potential flaws in the seal to skin, comprises three major components: the inner bandage, comprising an absorbent layer (1) and a waterproof layer (2); the outer bandage, comprising an absorbent layer (3) and a waterproof layer (4); and an adhesive layer (5) binding the waterproof layer of the inner bandage (2) and the absorbent layer of the outer bandage (3) together. When properly sized, registered and bonded, the outer absorbent layer (3) functions to wick away and to prevent any water that may penetrate the outer waterproof layer (4) from breaching or damaging the inner bandage. The waterproof bandage can be configured in various sizes as a bandage (FIG. 1), or as a sleeve-like cover for a protected site on hands, arms, feet, legs, and other parts of the body (FIGS. 3 and 4).
Haemostatic material
The present invention relates to a haemostatic material comprising a carrier layer and a material for wound contact comprising at least one haemostat in particulate, granular, powder, flake or short fibrous form. Such a haemostatic material is useful, for example, in reducing or stopping bleeding of a physiological target site in a person or animal, and can also be used to stem bleeding during medical procedures.
TISSUE INTERFACE INCORPORATING MULTIPLE LAYERS
A tissue interface configured to be positioned at a tissue site is provided. The tissue interface may include a first tissue interface layer, a second tissue interface layer, and a bonding layer disposed between the first tissue interface layer and the second tissue interface layer. The bonding layer may couple the first tissue interface layer to the second tissue interface layer. The interface layers may be bonded together lightly such that the bonding layer is sufficiently strong to hold together a first interface layer and a second interface layer, but weak enough to allow the first tissue interface layer to be separated or detached from the second tissue interface layer when pulled apart by a user. This allows a user to add or remove any number of tissue interface layers to adjust the height of the tissue interface 108 in order to accommodate the depth of a tissue site.
Shape memory spacer fabric composite
The invention provides a shape memory spacer fabric composite, being a spacer fabric coated with a shape memory polymer layer, wherein the spacer fabric comprises a first outer layer, a second outer layer and an intermediate spacing layer connecting the first outer layer and the second outer layer; the shape memory polymer layer is made from at least one block or random copolymer selected from the group consisting of the following: polyesters, polyurethanes, polyamides, polyols; the copolymer has at least one phase transition temperature in a range of 40˜80° C.
SUPPORT WRAP FOR THE HUMAN BODY
A support wrap comprising an upper portion defined by a plurality of upper free ends, wherein the upper portion operable to at least partially enclose a lower torso when the plurality of upper free ends overlap; a pair of lower portions defined by a plurality of lower free ends, wherein the pair of lower portions operable to enclose a leg when the plurality of lower free ends overlap; an inner lining, the inner lining being coplanar to the support wrap; and a plurality of fasteners placed at predetermined locations on the support wrap.
AN ABSORBENT DRESSING INCORPORATING PH WOUND CONDITION INDICATION
The present disclosure describes a wound dressing with one or more integrated pH sensors. The pH sensors can measure the pH at different portions of the wound and dressing. The pH sensors can measure the pH of the wound and dressing at different intervals throughout the wearing of the dressing. The pH sensors can provide real-time feedback during wear time. In addition to providing indications of pH, the pH sensors can provide indications of the wound dressing's level of saturation. The pH sensors can be visual indications that the wound dressing is saturated with fluid and should be changed.
METHODS OF MAKING BIOACTIVE COLLAGEN WOUND CARE DRESSINGS
A method of preparing a crosslinked, collagen-based wound care dressing is provided, comprising: (a) immersing a sample of fibrous and/or non-fibrous collagen in a buffered acidic, aqueous solution comprising an alcohol; (b) contacting the collagen in solution with a catalytic component comprising 1-ethyl-3-[3-dimethylaminopropyl]carbodiimide hydrochloride for a time at least sufficient to effect reaction between amino and carboxyl groups present on the collagen and to yield crosslinked collagen that is resistant to pronase degradation; and (c) drying the crosslinked collagen to yield a porous, crosslinked collagen article wherein the porous, crosslinked collagen article demonstrates a pore size of 10-500 microns. Also provided are bioactive collagen medical scaffolds for hernia repair prosthetics and surgical incision closure members, prepared using the method above.
Breathable Medical Gauze Patch
A breathable medical gauze patch includes at least one bandage body coupled with at least one ply of gauze or similar to, which not only helps wounds heal fast, but also prevent infections and potential complications. The at least one bandage body includes an adhesive on the underside that permits mounting about the wound site of a user/recipient. The at least one ply is disposed about a bandage aperture of the at least one bandage body. The at least one ply permits aeration therethrough to the wound site and facilitates absorption of any seepage of the wound while protecting the wound from the exterior environment. Further, the at least one ply may include multiple layers of sterilized medical grade gauze, a gel and an adhesive that allow the present invention to be efficiently and effectively applied to various deep or shallow wounds for facilitating speedy healing of the wounds.
Body cast for the human body
An apparatus comprising a support wrap. The support wrap including at least an upper portion, the upper portion of said the support wrap having a first side extending along a first direction by a first length, the upper portion of said the support wrap having a second side extending along a second direction by a second length, the upper portion of said the support wrap having a third side extending along a third direction by a third length, the first direction is in a different direction than the second direction, the first direction is in a different direction than the third direction, the first length being greater than the second length, the first length being greater than the third length, the upper portion including a first upper fastening member, and said first upper fastening member capable of fastening said first side to said second side.
