Cyclonic system for enhanced separation of fluid samples and the like, and method therefore

A cyclonic filter separator with liquid block capabilities formed to separate liquids in a fluid stream for on-stream and spot sampling of natural gas or the like, particularly pressurized process gas having liquid entrained therein, otherwise referenced as multiphase or wet. The present invention incorporates a liquid block apparatus downstream the cyclonic separator to provide to further prevent liquid passing therethrough, ensuring a dry gas sample stream for analysis or the like. A coalescing membrane may be situated intermediate the cyclonic separator and the liquid block, which coalescing membrane may further be linked to the liquid block such that differential pressure associated with the operative state of the membrane causes the liquid block to engage, blocking the flow of fluid therethrough.

Tunnel boring machine having a device for detecting a content of critical gas

A device for detecting a content of critical gas in a mining chamber of a tunnel boring machine includes a separation module by which a fluid fed in via an extraction line connection is cleaned of solid and liquid components. A gas line arrangement arranged downstream of the separation module in the flow direction of the fluid carries the fluid, including substantially only gaseous components, through a pressure reducer and through a flow control valve of a metering module by which the gas to be analyzed can be delivered in a controlled manner assisted by a double diaphragm pump and a pressure stabilizer to a gas analysis unit even at high pressures in the cavity.

Sample fluid stream probe gas sheet nozzle

A sample fluid stream can be received from a main fluid stream through a nozzle of a probe located at least partially in the main fluid stream. The sample fluid stream can travel into the nozzle and a portion of the main fluid stream adjacent to the sample fluid stream can flow past the probe without entering the probe. The sample fluid stream can flow downstream within the probe, and a portion of the main fluid stream can flow downstream outside the probe. While receiving the sample fluid stream, a gas sheet can be directed from the probe, with the gas sheet flowing upstream against the main fluid stream.

Composite Gas Sampling System

A sampling system for collecting periodic composite and/or non-composite samples of vaporized gas during a transfer process from a vaporizer of a cryogenic hydrocarbon liquid including 1) a direct sample pathway to a gas analyzer for instantaneous, real-time vaporized gas analysis, 2) a speed loop pathway for directly collecting fresh vaporized gas samples for subsequent analysis, and 3) a composite sample pathway including a pressurized sample accumulator for collecting a plurality periodically obtained samples of a select volume during the transfer process to create a composite sample of the vaporized gas.
