Device for collecting particulate matter

An improved device for collecting particulate matter suspended in the ambient air is disclosed comprising a container extending between an open first end and a closed second end defining a container interior. A container output communicates with a container interior located proximate the closed second end of the container. A filter cassette comprising a collection filter is permanently affixed to a filter holder. A retainer having a retainer input retains the filter cassette between the retainer input and the container output. An output connector connects the container output to a low pressure source for drawing ambient air into the retainer input for enabling the collection filter to collect particulate matter suspended in the ambient air entering the retainer input. Preferably, the filter holder and the filter are disposable.

SELF-TIMING MODULE PASSIVE CHEMICAL DOSIMETERS

A self-timing, passive, chemical dosimeter. The dosimeter includes a sampling media and electronics supported by a cassette. The sampling media is configured to absorb volatile organic compounds, semivolatile organic compounds, or both, while the electronics are configured to record a time of exposure. The dosimeter further includes an actuator having a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the actuator resists exposure of the sampling media to volatile organic compounds, semivolatile organic compounds, or both, and in the open position, the actuator permits exposure of the sampling media to volatile organic compounds, semivolatile organic compounds, or both. The actuator is configured to operate the electronics for recording time of exposure.

Passive sampling of airborne particles with the aid of natural air flow

An apparatus for passive sampling of airborne particles such as those found in an aerosol is disclosed. The passive sampler is designed to take advantage of natural air flow to collect airborne particles, such as those contained in an aerosol, for subsequent analysis. The passive sampler increases the sampling efficiency for diffusion and electrostatic collection of particles by using natural airflow or movement to bring particles closer to the deposition surface. Alternately charged electret filters further increase the sampling efficiency.

METHOD FOR INTELLIGENTLY PREVENTING AND HANDLING INDOOR AIR POLLUTION

A method for intelligently preventing and handling indoor air pollution is adapted to be implement in an indoor space. The method includes providing an outdoor gas detector to detect a polluted gas in an outdoor space and transmit an outdoor gas detection data; providing an indoor gas detector to detect a polluted gas in the indoor space and transmit an indoor gas detection data; and providing an indoor gas exchange system including a gas exchanger. The gas exchanger compares the outdoor gas detection data with the indoor detection data and controls the polluted gas in the indoor space to determine if the gas exchange function should be performed. Therefore, the indoor gas detection data of the polluted gas in the indoor space is decreased to a safety detection value and the polluted gas in the indoor space becomes a clean, safe, and breathable gas.

Disclosed is a method for correlating a biomarker in a non-blood bodily fluid with the same biomarker in the blood of an individual, including: measuring, in a first period in time, the biomarker in non-blood bodily fluid and measuring the same biomarker in the blood of the same individual to establish an R ratio of [NBBF1]/[BB1], where [NBBF1] is the biomarker concentration in non-blood bodily fluid in the first period in time, and [BB1] is the biomarker concentration in the blood in the first period in time; storing the ratio in a memory; measuring, in a second period in time, the biomarker in non-blood bodily fluid to determine [NBBF2], where [NBBF2] is the biomarker concentration in the non-blood bodily fluid in the second period in time; and correlating the measured [NBBF2] with the R ratio to generate a correlated [BB2] biomarker concentration in the blood of the individual in the second period in time. Also disclosed is a device, apparatus, and method for correlating the glucose concentration in a non-blood bodily fluid such as saliva with the glucose in the blood of an individual.

A gas sampler device has a top plate with a concaved outer wall. The concaved outer wall allows users easily to lift the top plate off of the bottom plate without disturbing the bottom plate because the curved surface permits more positive contact between the outer wall and users' fingers. Moreover, the weight of the top plate is reduced by approximately twenty percent compared to conventional top plates, a feature that also makes it easier for users to lift the top plate off of the bottom plate.
