Dry eye treatment apparatus and methods are described herein which generally comprise a patch or strip affixed to the skin of the upper and/or lower eyelids to deliver heat or other forms of energy, pressure, drugs, moisture, etc. (alone or in combination) to the one or more meibomian glands contained within the underlying skin. The treatment strip or strips include one or more strips configured to adhere to an underlying region of skin in proximity to one or both eyes of a subject such that the one or more strips allow for the subject to blink naturally without restriction from the one or more patches. Moreover, the one or more strips may be configured to emit energy to the underlying region of skin and where the one or more strips are shaped to follow a location of one or more meibomiam glands contained within the underlying region of skin.

Some embodiments relate to a wound dressing, packages containing such dressings and methods of their manufacture. Such wound dressings may comprise: a cohesive bandage having a length and a width, the length being substantially greater than the width; and an absorbent pad affixed to the bandage near to but spaced from a terminal end of the bandage so as to form a tail portion between the pad and the terminal end of the bandage.

COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR TRANSDERMAL OXYBUTYNIN THERAPY
20170095438 · 2017-04-06 ·

The present invention provides compositions and methods for administering oxybutynin while minimizing the incidence and or severity of adverse drug experiences associated with oxybutynin therapy. In one aspect, these compositions and methods provide a lower plasma concentration of oxybutynin metabolites, such as N-desethyloxybutynin, which is presumed to be contributing at least in part to some of the adverse drug experiences, while maintaining sufficient oxybutynin plasma concentration to benefit a subject with oxybutynin therapy. The invention also provides isomers of oxybutynin and its metabolites that meet these characteristics of minimized incidence and/or severity of adverse drug experiences, and maintenance of beneficial and effective therapy for overactive bladder. In some aspects, the composition may be presented in the form of an unoccluded or free form topically administered gel.

TRANSDERMAL SYSTEMS CONTAINING MULTILAYER ADHESIVE MATRICES TO MODIFY DRUG DELIVERY

A transdermal drug-containing dosage unit comprises: a backing layer substantially impervious to the drug to be delivered transdermally; a first polymeric adhesive matrix, in contact with the backing layer, having dispersed therein the drug and having a first delivery profile of the drug; a second polymeric adhesive matrix, in contact with said first polymeric adhesive matrix, having dispersed therein the drug and having a second delivery profile of the drug, wherein said second delivery profile is different from said first delivery profile; and a release liner in contact with the second polymeric adhesive matrix.

The first polymeric adhesive matrix can release the drug more quickly or more slowly than the second polymeric adhesive matrix. Through the selection of the two matrices, the delivery profile of the drug through the skin can be selectively modified and controlled.

Skin-mountable medical device

The invention concerns a skin-mountable medical device comprising a patch portion with a contact surface facing the skin of a patient during use, a process unit attached to the patch portion, and a plaster kit for securing the patch portion to the skin, wherein the plaster kit has a primary pad adapted to releasably adhere to at least a section of a peripheral skin surface surrounding the contact surface. According to the invention, the plaster kit further comprises at least one auxiliary pad which is connectable or connected to the patch portion and adapted to functionally replace the primary pad after a wearing time.
