The invention provides an indoor air quality monitor (10) which has: a housing (12) providing an air intake (24) leading via a flow path, which is formed within the housing and which comprises a flow chamber (70), to an air outlet (28); a fan arranged to M propel air from the air intake (24) through the flow path to the air outlet (28); at least one sensor (56, 58, 60, 62) which is for sensing at least one air pollutant, the sensor (56, 58, 60, 62) being exposed to air in the flow chamber (70); and an air guide arrangement (46, 48, 64, 66, 74) which is downstream of the air intake (24) in the flow path and which forms a plurality of flow passages (76, 78, 80) through each of which air passes in operation of the indoor air quality monitor to reach the flow chamber (70).

Detector inlet and sampling method

A detector comprising an analytical apparatus for detecting a substance of interest, and a detector inlet. The detector inlet comprises a flow passage for carrying a flow of fluid, the flow passage comprising a sampling volume, and a sampling inlet adapted to collect samples of the fluid from the sampling volume as the fluid flows past the sampling inlet, and to provide the samples to the analytical apparatus, wherein the flow of fluid carries particulates. The detector inlet also comprises a flow director arranged to vary a spatial distribution of the particulates carried by the fluid to increase a relative proportion of the particulates carried past the sampling inlet along the flow passage without entering the sampling volume.

The off-gas detection device is configured to define a controlled flow path between an electrical energy storage device of the mobile equipment and an off-gas detector. The controller is configured to receive data from the off-gas detector regarding an air sample, determine a presence or concentration of off-gas within the air sample, and initiate one or more actions in response to determining the presence or concentration of off-gas in the air sample.

A smoke detection device main body of a portable smoke detector can switch smoke detection sensitivity. At the start of operation, the smoke detection sensitivity of the portable smoke detector is equal to or higher than a smoke detection sensitivity of a fixed smoke detector that detects smoke in a monitoring area. At this time, switching of smoke detection sensitivity does not work. After the fixed smoke detector detects smoke generation, when the portable smoke detector is used to locate the smoke generation position while moving in the monitoring area, an operation is performed from an initial sensitivity. When a predetermined smoke detection signal is detected while using the portable smoke detector to identify the smoke generation position, the smoke detection sensitivity switching is activated, and the smoke detection sensitivity is changed accordingly. By lowering the smoke detection sensitivity, the smoke generation position is narrowed down and identified.
