Sampling systems provide apparatuses for obtaining and assessing the composition of a fluid, typically air. Sampling systems allow industrial hygienists to assess the risks and determine the protective equipment that should be worn by personnel entering a specific environment. In one embodiment, a sampling system comprises a sampling container that draws air into its inner volume and the sampling periods are controlled by an automatic timer valve. The automatic timer valve may comprise a rotating disk or plate that provides fluid communication from the area to be sampled to the inner volume of the sample bag when apertures are aligned with inlet tube.

Breath sample device including flow regulation device for volatile and semi-volatile sampling

A flow regulation device for volatile and semi-volatile sampling onto adsorbent media is provided. The flow regulation device includes a housing having an inlet, an outlet, a secondary inlet that is open to the ambient, a real time flow meter, a controller in electronic communication with the flow meter, and a three-way valve. Gas is drawn through the adsorbent media, into the inlet, and then to the outlet by a vacuum source joined to the outlet. The controller is configured to: (1) actuate the three-way valve to put the vacuum source in-line with the inlet; (2) continuously monitor the flow of gas through the inlet and calculate the time necessary to sample a pre-set volume of gas; and (3) after the pre-set volume of gas passes through the inlet, actuate the three-way valve to put the vacuum source in-line with the secondary inlet.

A valve assembly and chuck system for a gas sampling apparatus. In one embodiment, the apparatus may comprise a valve assembly comprising a first core valve, wherein a pin of the first core valve is biased to a first closed position; a chuck system comprising a second core valve, wherein a pin of the second core valve is biased to a first closed position; and a transfer tube housed within the chuck system, wherein the transfer tube provides a means of displacing the pins of the first and second core valves to a second open position; wherein the transfer tube isolates a fluid communication path between the first and second core valves. In an alternate embodiment, the chuck system may not comprise a second core valve, and the transfer tube may isolate a fluid communication path between the first core valve and the chuck system.

Automatic sampling device and method for determining greenhouse gas emission flux from farmland

An automatic sampling device and method for determining greenhouse gas emission flux from farmland are provided. The device includes a static chamber, a flow meter, and a collection box. The static chamber communicates with a gas inlet of the collection box. The flow meter is arranged in a gas pipe between the static chamber and the collection box. The static chamber is used to cover plants to be tested and to keep the plants to be tested in a closed environment. The flow meter is used to determine a gas flow rate in the gas pipe between the static chamber and the collection box in real time. The collection box is internally provided a plurality of collection loops and a controller. Each collection loop is used to collect a gas in the static chamber at different time according to collection settings of the controller.
