Optics cup with curved bottom
The present invention relates to a system for conducting the identification and quantification of micro-organisms, e.g., bacteria, in biological samples. More particularly, the invention relates to a system comprising a disposable cartridge and an optics cup or cuvette having a tapered surface; wherein the walls are angled to allow for better coating and better striations of the light. The system may utilize the disposable cartridge in the sample processor and the optics cup or cuvette in the optical analyzer, wherein the optics cup also has a floor in the shape of an inverted arch.
DETECTION TUBE, DETECTION SYSTEM AND OPTICAL DETECTION METHOD FOR PARAMETER OF TEST SPECIMEN
A detection tube includes a main body and an optical structure. The main body includes a bottom wall and a side wall extending from a periphery of the bottom wall to a first direction, and the side wall and the bottom wall jointly form a detection groove. The optical structure is connected to the bottom wall, the optical structure includes an incident surface and an exit surface, the incident surface and the exit surface are extending from the periphery of the bottom wall to a second direction opposite to the first direction. A first distance between portions of the incident surface and the exit surface adjacent to the bottom wall is greater than a second distance between portions of the incident surface and the exit surface away from the bottom wall.

The system may utilize the disposable cartridge in the sample processor and the optical cup or cuvette in the optical analyzer.
SENSING SYSTEMS AND METHODS USING A COUPLING STRUCTURE
A sensor system having coupling structures is disclosed. The system includes an input coupling structure, an interaction region, and an output coupling structure. The input coupling structure is configured to receive emitted light at a selected coupling efficiency and may provide filtering of the emitted light for a selected wavelength. The interaction region is coupled to the input coupling structure and configured to interact the light from the input coupling structure with a specimen. The output coupling structure is coupled to the interaction region and configured to provide interacted light from the interaction region to the detector.

Cavity for gas measurements
This invention relates to retrievable measuring cell for optical measurements in gas, the cell being defined by a gas conducting pipe having an input end adapted to be connected to a gas flow input intruding gas into the cell and an output end adapted to be connected to a gas flow output. The pipe ends also being adapted to be coupled to optical components including an optical transmitter transmitting light into said cell and an optical receiver adapted to receive light having passed through said cell, the optical beam in said cell having a predetermined shape, the optical components including a light source, at least two minors and a light receiver being mounted in known positions on an external frame covered by the pipe ends. The cell has an elongated shape corresponding to the optical beam shape.

IMPROVED SAMPLE TUBE WITH TRANSPARENT TIP HAVING PARTICULAR UTILITY FOR NUCLEIC ACID AMPLIFICATION
An improved sample tube that includes a body portion having a longitudinal axis and a wall generally circumscribing the longitudinal axis. The body portion terminates in a distal tip having a dimple. The body portion includes at least one transparent portion (e.g., at the distal tip) that is adapted for transmitting light. The wail is configured for elastic deformation along at feast a portion of its length, including in a direction that is generally transverse to the longitudinal axis, so that it compressively and resiliently deforms and engages a wail defining an opening in a sample block of a PGR amplification instrument. The tube may be made by injection molding a polymeric material including a thermoplastic.
