The body may further define an inlet in direct fluid communication with the inner section. The inlet may be configured to direct a sample to the inner section of the flowpath.
Cuvette device for determining antibacterial susceptibility
The present invention is a cuvette assembly for use in optically measuring at least one characteristic of particles within a plurality of liquid samples. The cuvette assembly includes a unitary body made of a single type of transparent material. The unitary body includes a plurality of optical chambers for receiving the liquid sample, an entry side wall for allowing transmission of an input light beam into the respective liquid sample, and an exit side wall for transmitting a forward scatter signal caused by the particles within the respective liquid sample. Each of the plurality of optical chambers is separated by internal walls of the unitary body.
Colloidal fingerprints for soft materials using total holographic characterization
Systems and methods for uniquely identifying fluid-phase products by endowing them with fingerprints composed of dispersed colloidal particles, and by reading out those fingerprints on demand using Total Holographic Characterization. A library of chemically inert colloidal particles is developed that can be dispersed into soft materials, the stoichiometry of the mixture encoding user-specified information, including information about the host material. Encoded information then can be recovered by high-speed analysis of holographic microscopy images of the dispersed particles. Specifically, holograms of individual colloidal spheres are analyzed with predictions of the theory of light scattering to measure each sphere's radius and refractive index, thereby building up the distribution of particle properties one particle at a time. A complete analysis of a colloidal fingerprint requires several thousand single-particle holograms and can be completed in ten minutes.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING TRANSMITTANCE OF QUARTZ CRUCIBLE
A measurement method and a measurement apparatus are capable of measuring the transmittance of a quartz crucible accurately. A measurement method includes: emitting a parallel light from a light source disposed on a side of one wall surface of a quartz crucible toward a predetermined measurement point of the quartz crucible; measuring reception levels of light transmitted through the quartz crucible at a plurality of positions by disposing a detector at the plurality of positions on a circle centered around an exit point of the parallel light on the other wall surface of the quartz crucible; and calculating a transmittance of the quartz crucible at the predetermined measurement point based on a plurality of the reception levels of the transmitted light measured at the plurality of positions.
LIGHT DETECTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
Light detection systems for measuring light (e.g., in a flow stream) are described. Light detection systems according to embodiments include a light scatter detector, a brightfield photodetector and an optical adjustment component configured to convey light to the light scatter detector and to the brightfield photodetector. Systems and methods for measuring light emitted by a sample (e.g., in a flow stream) and kits having a light scatter detector, a brightfield photodetector and a beam splitter component are also provided.
Far-infrared spectroscopic device and far-infrared spectroscopic method
In an is-TPG method in which lasers having two different wavelengths are used to generate a wavelength-variable far-infrared light, a far-infrared light (TPG light) having an unstable output at a broad wavelength is also slightly generated at the same time with only one laser light. The generated is-TPG and the TPG light are converted, after passing through a specimen, to near-infrared light inside a nonlinear optical crystal for detection and are observed by a detector. The signal light output of the is-TPG light becomes unstable due to the TPG light. According to the present invention, the TPG light is removed by means of a slit and the like (filter) immediately before the specimen and is not introduced into the nonlinear optical crystal for detection. At this time, by using a change in the emission direction when the frequency of the is TPG light is changed, the filter is moved in accordance with the frequency so that only the is-TPG light passes therethrough (see FIG. 1C).
Methods and Systems for Assessing Flow Cell Cleanliness
Provided are methods of assessing the cleanliness of a flow cell of a flow cytometric system. The provided methods include computing a ratio of post-flow cell and pre-flow cell light beam intensities and using such a ratio to assess the cleanliness of the flow cell. Flow cytometric systems capable of monitoring the cleanliness of a flow cell contained within the system are also provided.
