Method of expanding the measurement range of photometric systems
The present invention relates to a method of extending the measurement range during the determination of the concentration of a dissolved substance (2), where the solution of the dissolved substance (2) is metered by means of a micrometering device (3, 4, 5) to a specified amount of precharged reagent (1) into a measuring cell (11) until the coloration which forms as a result of the reaction of the dissolved substance with the reagent, ascertained photometrically, achieves a predetermined extinction value X, whereupon the amount of consumed dissolved substance (2) is ascertained at the micrometering device (3, 4, 5) and the concentration is calculated on the basis of this, where the volume of (2) is much smaller than of (1).

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ANALYSING A BLEND OF TWO OR MORE HYDROCARBON FEED STREAMS
The invention relates to a method for analysing a blend of two or more hydrocarbon feed streams such as crude oils. These crude oils are blended in a facility such as a refinery. The method assesses the compatibility of a hydrocarbon feed in a blend to calculate the blend stability such that organic deposition is minimised The method uses all of a plurality of hydrocarbon feeds to be blended for analysis. The method either selects a neat hydrocarbon feed, from a plurality of the hydrocarbon feeds included in a blend, as a titrant, wherein the or each other hydrocarbon in the hydrocarbon feed are used to make a pseudo-blend and titrating the pseudo-blend with said selected neat hydrocarbon feed for a plurality of different blend ratios. Alternatively the method involves preparing a reference hydrocarbon and making a blend from the plurality of hydrocarbon feeds and titrating the blend with the reference hydrocarbon. Measurements associated with the change in characteristics of the titrated blend are made and data recorded. The method then calculates, using said data, the stability of the blend.

PROCESS AND APPARATUS TO DETECT MERCAPTANS IN A CAUSTIC STREAM
The present invention relates to a system to detect mercaptides or sulfides in a caustic stream. More particularly, this invention relates to an on-line analyzer for measuring mercaptides using a color changing reagent to quantify mercaptide or sulfide concentration in a caustic stream. The on-line analyzer which includes a liquid sensor which can provide valuable feedback to an operator for controlling a processing unit for the catalytic oxidation of mercaptides to disulfides in an alkaline environment.

Automatic Titration Device
A titration system is disclosed for determining content of an analyte in a sample. The titration system comprises: a controller; a reaction vessel; a titration vessel and an indicator vessel in fluid communication with the reaction vessel; a spectroscopy unit; a sensor for outputting a signal to the controller based on a force exerted by the reaction vessel on the sensor. The controller executes a stored program to: (i) perform titration by delivering to the reaction vessel a first mass of a first fluid comprising the sample, a second mass of a second fluid comprising indicator, and a third mass of a third fluid comprising titrant; (ii) detect color change in the mixture in the reaction vessel based on a signal from the spectroscopy unit and stop titration; and (iii) calculate content of the analyte in the sample based on the first mass, the second mass, and the third mass.
