Two layer wound dressings including removable upper layer

Wound dressings including a skin contact layer and a cover layer removably adhered to the top surface of the skin contact layer are described. The skin contact layer includes a lower substrate extending around a central aperture and a lower adhesive. The lower substrate includes a top surface and a bottom surface opposite the top surface. The lower adhesive is disposed on the bottom surface of the lower substrate. The cover layer substantially covers the central aperture of the lower substrate, and includes an upper substrate and a backing layer. An upper adhesive is positioned between the top surface of the lower substrate and a bottom surface of the backing layer. In embodiments, the cover layer can be removed and changed while the skin contact layer remains adhered to the skin around a wound.

A breathable medical gauze patch includes at least one bandage body coupled with at least one ply of gauze or similar to, which not only helps wounds heal fast, but also prevent infections and potential complications. The at least one bandage body includes an adhesive on the underside that permits mounting about the wound site of a user/recipient. The at least one ply is disposed about a bandage aperture of the at least one bandage body. The at least one ply permits aeration therethrough to the wound site and facilitates absorption of any seepage of the wound while protecting the wound from the exterior environment. Further, the at least one ply may include multiple layers of sterilized medical grade gauze, a gel and an adhesive that allow the present invention to be efficiently and effectively applied to various deep or shallow wounds for facilitating speedy healing of the wounds.

WOUND DRESSING FOR THE HARVESTING OF SUPERFICIAL EPIDERMAL GRAFTS

In some aspects, the present invention provides an active dressing for transfer of superficial epidermal biopsies to a wound site, where the dressing can enhance keratinocyte out growth from the biopsies at the wound site and improve the rate of re-epithelization. In some embodiments, the dressing can include a perforated dehydrated amniotic membrane sheet that is coupled to a backing sheet having suitable adhesive properties. The perforations can have appropriate dimensions and distributions for capturing and transferring the skin biopsies. Without being limited to any particular theory, the amniotic membrane sheet can enhance the re-epithelization of the wound site to which the biopsies are transferred, e.g., by supplying signaling proteins and extra-cellular matrix (ECM) components.

Support devices and methods of making and using them

Described herein are support devices, which may include medical support devices. In particular, three-dimensional medical (and non-medical) devices from a single layer of material, typically by stamping or pressing (including cold pressing) a sheet of the material to form rigid and complex 3D shapes capable of use for a variety of medical and non-medical purposes. These support devices typically also include an adhesive material allowing the device to be attached to a subject's skin and/or mounted on a surface (e.g., wall, etc.). In particular, described herein are methods of manufacturing, assembling, and using adhesive support devices.

Disclosed herein are devices and methods for protecting reconstructed nipples, typically post-surgery. The nipple protector may include a circular base portion and an annular ridge concentrically disposed to define a central aperture. The nipple protector In may further include an adhesive layer disposed on a bottom surface of the base portion for adhering the nipple protector to an area surrounding the reconstructed nipple. The nipple protector is fashioned to allow for direct access to the new nipple, which facilitates application of antibiotic ointments. The nipple protector softly adheres to the skin to provide flexible, adherent, comfortable, and water tolerant usage.

POROUS WOUND DRESSING FOR USE IN NEGATIVE-PRESSURE THERAPY

A porous wound dressing for use in negative-pressure therapy is proposed. The wound dressing has an outer edge which defines a substantially oval or rectangular outer shape of the wound dressing with a major axis and a minor axis. The wound dressing has one or more incisions or perforations which together form one or more arc-shaped lines and serve for cutting the wound dressing to size in order to adapt the wound dressing to the shape and/or size of a wound. The one or more arc-shaped lines each extend asymmetrically with respect to the major axis and/or to the minor axis and each enclose, together with a portion of the outer edge, a segment of the wound dressing that is designed for separation from the wound dressing.
