Moisture Assessment System and Method for Wound Care
A Wound Moisture and Assessment System includes a flexible coupon containing one or more electrochemical moisture sensors for measuring a moisture profile of a wound. The coupon is activated by a wireless RF scanner that provides power to the coupon for taking moisture measurements, receives the moisture measurements therefrom, and transmits the measurements to a computing device. The moisture measurements can be represented as a wound moisture map that allows a patient or caregiver to assess the health and healing progress of a wound such as an ulcer.
REDUCED PRESSURE, COMPRESSION SYSTEMS AND APPARATUSES FOR USE ON JOINTS
A system for providing reduced-pressure treatment to a moveable tissue site, such as a joint, includes a flexible dressing bolster. The flexible dressing bolster has a first side and a second, inward-facing side, and a plurality of flexion joints formed on the flexible dressing bolster. The system further includes a sealing subsystem for providing a fluid seal over the flexible dressing bolster and the patient's epidermis and a reduced-pressure subsystem for delivering a reduced pressure to the sealing subsystem. The sealing subsystem and reduced-pressure subsystem are operable to deliver a reduced pressure to the moveable tissue site. The flexible dressing bolster is operable to allow articulation or movement of the moveable tissue site. The sealing subsystem may include a drape with folds. Other systems, apparatuses, and methods are presented.
Wound Bolster Dressing and Method of Use
A wound bolster includes an inner non-adherent face, a compressible and expandable body, and an outer elastic face where the inner non-adherent face is configured for contact with a wound on a subject and the outer elastic face is configured, upon securing of the wound bolster to a periphery of the wound, to generate a compressive force within the compressible and expandable body in response to applied deformation, which is transmitted as a normal compressive force to the subject. A method of affixing a wound bolster to a subject includes: recording a circumference associated with an outer region of a wound area on a subject, altering a size of the wound bolster based on the recorded circumference to form an altered wound bolster, positioning the altered wound bolster on the wound area, and affixing an outer edge of the altered wound bolster to the periphery of the wound area.
Braces having inelastic and elastic materials
Lower back braces and materials for braces having an elastic base and inelastic strands or tightening mechanism(s) are provided. An elastic base material could be made effectively inelastic by tightening an inelastic cord that extends across the elastic base material. Additionally or alternatively, an elastic base material could include one or more inelastic strands that define one or more inelastic compression zones in an otherwise elastic base.
PRESSURE SENSOR
A sensor suitable for measuring the pressure applied by a bandage is provided. The sensor comprises an elongate strip having a sensor region. The sensor region comprises: a base plate; a top plate; a compressible spacer positioned between the base plate and the top plate and, an electronic sensing apparatus configured to detect distance between the top plate and the base plate. The top plate is arranged to compress the compressible spacer and arranged such that the bandage exerts a force on the surface of the top plate perpendicular to the surface when the sensor is positioned between the bandage and a limb.
Anisotropic Drapes And Systems
An anisotropic wound drape for treating a wound on a patient includes a flexible sheet for placing over a tissue site. The flexible sheet includes a first isotropic zone, and a second isotropic zone. The first isotropic zone and the second isotropic zone are configured to provide the flexible sheet with anisotropic stretching properties. The anisotropic drape may used as part of a reduced-pressure wound treatment system. Other systems and methods are also presented.
Pressure-sensing compression bandage
A pressure-sensing compression bandage having a plurality of pressure sensors provided to indicate the pressures applied by and/or the pressure gradient created by, the applied bandage at various locations along its length when the bandage is applied to a limb or other extremity.
Dressing Assemblies For Wound Treatment Using Reduced Pressure
A dressing assembly for use with a reduced pressure treatment system, the dressing assembly develops a directed force under reduced pressure. The directed force may be a radial force or a closing force. The dressing assembly includes a shaped dressing bolster having a shaped extremity that is operable to evenly deliver the radial force and to distribute reduced pressure. Numerous shapes may be used for the shaped extremity. The dressing assembly may further include an over-drape to assist in creating a seal over the shaped dressing bolster and against a portion of a patient's epidermis.
SYNDESMOSIS REDUCTION DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE
An improved syndesmosis reduction device has a wrap of elastic material extending a length L from a first end to a second end with an open window or slot positioned in an intermediate portion of the wrap spaced from the ends. The wrap is configured to achieve a reduction of an injured ankle and is facilitated by the elastic nature of the ankle wrap. The reduction is facilitated by circumferentially wrapping the wrap from a leg to a foot or vice versa in a compressive fashion by securing the first end by wrapping and stretching the wrap to the second end. The window or slot is to permit an incision at the ankle for hardware placement without the need to remove the wrap and without loss of the reduction achieved.
Phimosiectomy shield
A phimosiectomy shield can be firmly fixed to a human body to be able to stably protect an operated part after phimosiectomy, reduces pain in the operated part by stably preventing pressure and friction on the operated part, and helps an operated part to quickly recover by stably preventing bacterial infection due to contact. The phimosiectomy shield includes a protective part surrounding a penis to protect an operated part due to phimosiectomy and an attachment part extending from the protective part to be attached to a human body, in which a hole for inserting a penis is formed at the center of a lower portion of the attachment part.
