The controller is configured to receive operational job data characterizing each of a number of different jobs that define the work process, receive system data from one or more of the plurality of lab workstations and the at least one auto-navigating robot processing vehicle, and based on the operational job data and the system data, schedule and coordinate each of the number of different jobs that define the work process.
Laboratory product transport element and path arrangement
The invention concerns a laboratory product transport element for a laboratory transport system with an energy receiver and/or energy accumulator to provide drive power, at least one signal receiver to receive control signals, a control unit to generate drive signals as a function of at least one control signal obtained from the at least one signal receiver, movement devices for independent movement of the laboratory product transport element on a transfer path as a function of the drive signals of the control unit, in which the drive devices are driven by the drive power and at least one holder to hold a laboratory product being transported. The invention also concerns a laboratory transport system with at least one laboratory product transport element according to an embodiment of the invention and a transfer path arrangement. The invention also concerns methods for operation of laboratory transport systems according to an embodiment of the invention.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC CLOSURE OF SAMPLE VESSELS
A system and method for automatic closure of sample vessels such as vessels with medical laboratory samples, having a plurality of identically shaped, stackable closure caps with a convex outer face and concave inner face that are stacked in a closure cap stack such that an upper closure cap in the stack bears with its convex outer face on the concave inner face of a lower closure cap lying immediately below in the stack. The system includes a closure gripper for gripping an uppermost closure cap from the stack, for transferring the gripped closure cap to the sample vessel to be closed, and for introducing the gripped closure cap into an opening of the sample vessel in order to tightly close the opening. The closure gripper has a centering piece insertable into a closure cap such that it bears on the concave inner face of the closure cap.
Biological sample processing
Systems and methods are provided for processing a biological sample. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving a sample vessel containing the sample; retrieving information from an information storage unit associated with the sample; using said information for selecting at least one cartridge from at least two or more different cartridges, each configured for use with a sample processing device; loading at least one or more reagents onto the cartridge, wherein the one or more reagents to be added are selected based at least in part on the information or instructions derived from the information; and placing the sample vessel in the cartridge.
Device for releasably holding an elongated object in a predetermined orientation and system for transporting an elongated object disposed in a predetermined orientation
A device for releasably holding an elongated object, such as a test tube, in a predetermined orientation includes a gripping element configured for circumferential expansion and contraction with respect to the object. An actuator element coupled to the gripping element is configured to effect circumferential expansion of the gripping element to an expanded configuration able to receive an end of the elongated object. A locking mechanism coupled to the actuator element is configured to lock the actuator element in a position holding the gripping element in the expanded configuration. A lock release mechanism is configured to be triggered by an elongated object inserted into the expanded gripping element and to release the locking mechanism, thereby allowing the biased gripping element to return to a contracted configuration gripping a portion of the object. The device and an object held thereby can be conveyed on a conveyor.
TRANSPORT SYSTEM FOR TRANSPORTING SPECIMENS IN A MEDICAL ANALYSIS LABORATORY
A transport system for transport of specimens in a medical or chemical analysis laboratory. The system includes a transport track predefining travel paths, and at least one self-propelled transport carriage configured to moving along the travel paths. The carriage has a specimen receptacle, four wheels driven by an electric motor, an electrical energy store for providing power to a motor drive, and a motor drive controller. The carriage wheels are arranged on two axes aligned parallel to one another, with only the wheels of a first axle being driven. Each wheel of the driven axle is connected to a dedicated electric motor drive and is driven at a rotational speed individually predefined by the controller. Longitudinal grooves are routed along the travel paths in the transport track and a guide projection protruding from the underside of the carriage engages in the longitudinal grooves.
AUTO-NAVIGATING ROBOTIC PROCESSING VEHICLE
An auto-navigating robotic processing vehicle including a carriage having a frame, an autonomous drive section configured to traverse the carriage effecting vehicle travel on a facility floor, and having an autonomous navigation section to effect autonomous navigation vehicle travel, a processing section with different processing modules connected to and carried by the frame, each of the different processing modules having a different predetermined laboratory processing function with a different predetermined function characteristic corresponding to the processing module and being automatically selectable to effect a preprocess or preprocess condition of laboratory samples and/or sample holders with respect to a process at a processing station, and a controller automatically selects at least one processing module and the corresponding predetermined function of the selected processing module effecting automatically the preprocess or preprocess condition based on an identification of a travel location for the vehicle and the process of the at the processing station.
An Autonomous Sampling System
The present invention is concerned with an autonomous sampling system for use in a pharmaceutical facility in order to effect the autonomous sampling of pharmaceutical substances being manufactured in the facility and/or for effecting the autonomous sampling or monitoring of environmental conditions within the facility.
Method, an apparatus, and a system for automated inspection of motorized vehicles
A method, an apparatus, and a system for x-ray scanning inspection of motorized vehicles are described. The apparatus or system comprises a concrete facility that has a concrete housing, multiple x-ray beam sources, multiple x-ray beam detectors on respective opposite sides of the multiple x-ray beam sources, and a conveyor belt. The apparatus or system is automated to deliver alerts if any of the scanned motorized vehicles contain prohibited materials. The method, apparatus, and system are able to detect organic versus inorganic matter. Specific beam strength and a distance between the motorized vehicles make this technology automated and more accurate for security screening of a large number of motorized vehicles.
