Medical dressing comprising a flap
The disclosed medical dressing has a dressing body and a flap. The dressing body has a first major surface and opposite second major surface containing a skin-contact adhesive. The flap has a fixed end integrally connected to the dressing body and a movable free end. The second major surface of the flap has a securing adhesive for contact with the first major surface of the dressing body.
Medical dressings, systems, and methods employing sealants
According to an illustrative embodiment, a system for treating a wound at a tissue site of a patient comprising a reduced-pressure source to supply reduced pressure, a drape adhering to the tissue site to cover the wound where possible leak passages between the drape and the tissue site may occur, and a seal disposed between the drape and the tissue site, is disclosed. The seal is adapted to react with a fluid to form a sealant substantially filling the passages in response to air leaking through the passages from outside the drape when reduced pressure is applied to the wound. According to another illustrative embodiment, a method for sealing a drape to a tissue site for treating a wound at the tissue site comprising applying the drape to cover the tissue site whereby passages are formed between the drape and the tissue site, positioning a seal between the drape and the tissue site wherein the seal is adapted to react with a fluid to form a sealant for substantially filling the passages, is also disclosed.
Buffered adhesive compositions for skin-adhering medical products
Provided are buffered adhesive compositions comprising a high molecular weight non-neutralized polymeric acid and a high molecular weight partially neutralized polymeric acid and products such as wound dressings and ostomy skin barriers incorporating the compositions.
Medical Dressing
A medical dressing (30) is disclosed, comprising an adhesive layer (3) having a skin-facing surface (6) to adhere the medical dressing to a dermal surface, wherein said adhesive layer comprises a first chemical compound incorporated within said adhesive layer, and wherein at least a portion of said skin-facing surface comprises a coating (9) comprising a second chemical compound. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing such a medical dressing.
Medical Dressing
A medical dressing is disclosed, comprising a substrate comprising a first chemical compound, said substrate having a first surface, wherein said medical dressing further comprises an adhesive layer having a skin-facing surface to adhere said medical dressing to a dermal surface, wherein at least a portion of said skin-facing surface comprises a coating comprising a second chemical compound. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing such a medical dressing.
BIMODAL TREATMENT METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR GASTROINTESTINAL LESIONS WITH ACTIVE BLEEDING
The present invention relates to a long-lasting medical product for protecting or treating a lesion in the gastrointestinal tract. The medical product includes a protective covering, wherein the medical product upon application at and about the site of the lesion adheres to the gastrointestinal tissue and is capable of remaining at and about the site of the lesion for a time sufficient to allow the lesion to heal or be treated.
RELEASABLE MEDICAL DRAPES
A releasable medical drape, and systems and methods having the same, includes at least a liquid-impermeable, vapor-permeable layer, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, and a soft-gel layer having a plurality of apertures. The soft-gel layer is configured to be disposed adjacent to a tissue site. A portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer extends through the plurality of apertures in the soft-gel layer to contact the tissue site. The soft-gel layer forms a good seal with the tissue site and the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer extending through the plurality of apertures forms a firm—but releasable—coupling with the tissue site.
Moisture And Electromagnetic Radiation Switchable Adhesive And Apparatuses, Systems, And Methods Therefore
This disclosure describes devices, systems, and methods related to dual switchable adhesives, the manufacture thereof, and the use thereof. An exemplary dual switchable adhesive includes one or more polymers, photo initiators configured to cause the one or more polymers to cross-link responsive to receiving light, and polymerization initiators configured to cause the one or more polymers to cross-link responsive to receiving moisture.
WOUND DRESSING WITH ADHESIVE MARGIN
A wound dressing comprising: a backing sheet; a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive on the backing sheet; an island of absorbent material having smaller area than the backing sheet and applied onto a central region of the backing sheet so as to leave a margin of adhesive- coated backing sheet around the absorbent material, and an apertured wound facing layer applied over the absorbent material and adhered to the backing sheet around said island by said pressure-sensitive adhesive, wherein the apertured wound facing layer comprises an apertured substrate having a coating of a silicone gel on the wound facing surface thereof, the open area of the apertured wound facing layer is from about 5% to about 75%, and the apertured wound facing layer comprises apertures having an open area of from about 2 mm2 to about 100 mm.sup.2.
Devices, and systems for remotely monitoring and treating wounds or wound infections
Devices and methods for remotely monitoring and treating wounds or wound infections are disclosed. A device can include a multi-layered, flexible substrate having a dressing layer positioned on a wound side of the substrate, and a flexible printed circuit board layer positioned on an electronics side of the substrate that is opposite the wound side of the dressing layer. A plurality of electrodes can be electrically coupled to the flexible printed circuit board. A plurality of temperature sensors can be electrically coupled to the flexible printed circuit board. Systems including the described devices are also disclosed.
