Dressing Augmentation To Promote Epithelialization

A treatment system for applying negative-pressure therapy to a wound site is disclosed. The treatment system may include a non-adherent material for applying to the perimeter of the wound site. In some embodiments, the treatment system may include a tape, a tissue interface, a sealing member, and a negative-pressure subsystem. The tape material may provide a smooth surface along the perimeter of the wound site for protecting the wound edges from stresses and for promoting epithelialization.

Alginate wound dressing and method of making the same
10179074 · 2019-01-15 · ·

A method (400) of manufacturing a wound dressing includes obtaining alginate fibers (108) and the step (404) of spraying either the alginate fibers (108) or a dressing or dressing layer (610) of the alginate fibers with an aqueous solution (801) comprising a polysaccharide, which can be carboxymethylcellulose. The step of spraying can occur while the alginate fibers, dressing, or dressing layer are wet. A step (405) of flash drying can follow to remove the solute of the aqueous solution to leave the polysaccharide along the alginate. The step of spraying can be selective, such that only portions of the dressing layer include the polysaccharide.

A dressing for treating tissue with negative pressure is provided herein comprising a composite of dressing layers, including a release film, a perforated coated polymer film, a manifold, and an adhesive cover. Additionally, a method of manufacturing the dressing may comprise applying a cross-linkable polymer to a polymer film, curing the cross-linkable polymer to a gel layer to form a coated polymer film, and perforating the coated polymer film to form fluid restrictions, such as slits and/or slots, though the coated polymer film.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A TRANSDERMAL DEVICE

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a transdermal patch from a drug-containing web that minimizes waste. The web is a layered composite that includes at least a backing layer and a drug-in-adhesive layer and a first strippable release liner. The web is kiss-cut along intersecting cut lines at least down to the depth of the liner, generally defining the extent of individual transdermal patches. The intersections of the cut lines define small zones that are punched out of the web in a generally star shape. The portions of the web above the liner are peeled away from the liner and transferred to a faster moving second liner so that the patches are now further spaced apart from one another. This second liner is then cut to provide transdermal patches that are mounted to release liners that are substantially broader in extent than the patches themselves.
