An abrasion tester and testing method. The testing method comprises setting a running speed of a rubber sample fixed to an outer surface of an annular belt member stretched between a pair of pulleys to a desired speed; setting a pressing load applied by a contact member to a desired pressing load via an anchor member; selecting, as the contact member, a desired contact member from a plurality of types of contact members with different rubber sample surface contacting tip specifications; pressing the contact member against the surface of the rubber sample running by the rotation of the pulleys; and obtaining an amount of scratch abrasion of the rubber sample using a calculation unit on the basis of a cross-sectional shape of the surface of the rubber sample detected by a shape sensor.

Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) measurement system with an adjustable clamp assembly
10809170 · 2020-10-20 · ·

A dynamic mechanical analysis system provides an actuator that imparts expansion and contraction forces (e.g. shear force) to a viscoelastic material at high frequencies. Such high frequency analysis allows for the direct and accurate measurement of the characteristics of the material at high expansion/contraction frequencies directly, without the use of additional predictive analysis techniques, such as time-temperature superposition. The system also utilizes a clamping system, whereby two different sections of the viscoelastic material are held in place between by a pair of fixed clamps and a force member that is moved by the actuator. As such, the system is able to subject the viscoelastic material sample to simulated road conditions to identify various performance properties associated with the material sample.

A method of laser bond inspection is provided. The method includes applying a thermochromatic energy-absorbing material to an inspection site of a test article. The method includes delivering a first amount of energy to the inspection site using a laser. The first amount of energy generates stresses in the test article. The method includes absorbing the first amount of energy into the thermochromatic energy-absorbing material to produce an observable thermal response that correlates to the first amount of energy.

HEATING AND COOLING DEVICE AND PVT EQUIPMENT USING THE SAME

A heating and cooling device includes a conductive structure, an electric heating pipe and a housing. The housing has a main body and a test space formed in the main body, the electric heating pipe is attached on the main body and used for heating a testing plastic material in the test space, and the housing is covered outside the conductive structure and separated from the main body to form a cooling flow channel. The housing and the main body are separated without contacting each other, so that the dissipation of the heat energy of the electric heating pipe through the housing can be reduced in the heating process, and the function of thermal preservation can be provided. Moreover, the cooling effect can be improved through the larger cooling flow channel during the cooling process. A PVT equipment using the heating and cooling device is further provided.

System and method for determining the adiabatic stress derivative of the temperature for rocks under water

A system and method for determining adiabatic stress derivative of temperature for rocks under water. The system includes three pressure vessels disposed in seawater. A data collecting unit is in the first pressure vessel. A rock sample is in a first chamber of the second pressure vessel. A temperature sensor is in each of the center of the rock, the surface of the rock sample, and the first chamber. A pressure sensor is also in the first chamber. Outputs of the temperature sensors and the pressure sensor are communicated with inputs of the data collecting unit. A first drain valve is provided on the second pressure vessel and communicated with the first chamber. A second drain valve is provided between the second pressure vessel and the third pressure vessel, and communicated with the first chamber and the second chamber.

Method of assessing at least one petroleum characteristic of a rock sample

The invention is a method of assessing at least one petroleum characteristic of a rock sample. Starting from a temperature ranging between 50 C. and 120 C., the temperature of a rock sample is raised to a temperature ranging between 180 C. and 220 C. Temperature (T2) is maintained for a predetermined time duration. The temperature of the sample is increased to a temperature (T3) ranging 330 C. and 370 C. Temperature (T3) is maintained for a predetermined time duration. The temperature of the sample is then raised to a temperature (T4) ranging 630 C. and 670 C. Three quantities S.sub.h0, S.sub.h1 and S.sub.h2, representative of the amount of hydrocarbon compounds released during the temperature change stages, are measured and at least one petroleum characteristic of the sample is deduced from these quantities.
