Methods for diagnosing infectious diseases using adsorption media

The present invention provides an in vitro method for concentrating infectious pathogens found in a biological sample obtained from an individual who is suspected of being infected with the pathogens. Provided herein is also an in vitro method for reducing or eliminating blood cells from a sample obtained from an individual suspected to being infected with an infectious pathogen. The present invention also provides a method for diagnosing malaria and a method for determining if an individual is infected with a pathogen. Provided herein is also a concentrator and a kit for use with the methods.

ELEVATED CCL19 AFTER COMPLETION OF THERAPY FOR ACUTE LYME DISEASE IDENTIFIES PATIENTS AT RISK FOR DEVELOPMENT OF POST-TREATMENT LYME DISEASE SYNDROME WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM FURTHER ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY
20190178893 · 2019-06-13 ·

The present invention relates to the field of Lyme disease. More specifically, the present invention provides methods and composition useful for the treatment of Lyme disease. In one aspect, the present invention provides compositions and methods for treating a patient at risk for or likely to develop post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome (PTLDS). In certain embodiments, the patient is already undergoing a first course of antibiotic treatment for Lyme disease. In a specific embodiment, a method comprises the step of prescribing or administering a second course of antibiotic treatment to a patient who is determined to have an increased level of CCL19 as compared to a control after completing a first course of antibiotics for Lyme disease.

THE APPLICATION OF ANAPLASMA PHAGOCYTOPHILUM PROTEIN APH1384
20190170747 · 2019-06-06 ·

The present invention relates to use of an Anaplasma phagocytophilum protein APH1384 as diagnostic antigen for granulocytic anaplasmosis. The protein can remedy the drawback of missed detection of an existing diagnostic antigen P44 for granulocytic anaplasmosis, improve sensitivity of detection for granulocytic anaplasmosis, and facilitate rapid and accurate clinical diagnosis of granulocytic anaplasmosis.

Vaccines and diagnostics for the ehrlichioses

The present invention concerns VLPT immunoreactive compositions for E. chaffeensis and compositions related thereto, including vaccines, antibodies, polypeptides, peptides, and polynucleotides. In particular, epitopes for E. chaffeensis VLPT are disclosed.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING EMBRYONIC-LIKE STEM CELLS FROM TICKS (ACARI: IXODIDAE), COMPOSITION, USES THEREOF AND DIAGNOSTIC METHODS

The invention refers to a process for the production of a continuous cell line of simile embryo stem cells, such as Amblyomma sculptum (Acari: Ixodidae), known as line IBU/ASE-16 (access number with CNCM: 1-5000) and its uses. More specifically, the invention refers to a process for the production of the line IBU/ASE-16 and their use for obtaining extracts for the production of vaccines and candidate recombinant proteins for biopharmaceuticals and acaricides, production of diagnostic kits for the detection of antigens and/or antibodies for animal and human use, obtaining clones for use in genotyping and use as a substrate for the isolation and culture of pathogens.

METHOD OF INHIBITING C5 CLEAVAGE
