MEDICAL GAUZE AND GAS FLOW ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF APPLYING A MEDICAL GAUZE WITH GAS FLOW ON A WOUND
A medical gauze and gas flow assembly and method of applying a medical gauze with gas flow over a wound, provides a medical dressing cover that couples to a gas flow framing structure. The gas flow framing structure provides a flow of gas over a wound. A medical grade gauze material adheres to the lower surface of the medical dressing cover, so as to create spacing between the medical grade gauze material and the wound treatment area. The gas flow is directed between the medical grade gauze material and the wound treatment area. The gas flow vents to ambient though the gas permeable medical dressing cover. When degraded, the assembly is replaced or only the medical dressing cover and medical grade gauze material is replaced. The synergistic combination of a medical grade gauze material that is a gas permeable, with a gas flow structure that discharges gas over the wound enhances healing the wound.
MEDICAL DRESSING
A medical dressing for application to a surface of a human body is described. The medical dressing has a first direction (x) of extension and a second direction (y) of extension being perpendicular to the first direction (x) of extension. The medical dressing has at least a first and a second anisotropic layer having anisotropic stiffness, wherein the stiffness of each one of the first and the second anisotropic layer is higher in the second direction (y) of extension than in the first direction (x) of extension.
Compression foot garment, and therapeutic method for reducing heel pain
A compression foot garment is integrally knit of a body yarn, and adapted for wear on a foot of a user. The foot garment incorporates first and second high compression zones, and a compression release zone between the high compression zones. The first high compression zone is adapted for applying substantially circumferential compression to the foot below the plantar fascia between the calcaneus and metatarso-phalangeal joints and generally around the midfoot. The second high compression zone is adapted for applying substantially circumferential compression to the foot above the calcaneus and generally around an ankle of the user. The first and second high compression zones may comprise elastic yarns integrated with the body yarn. The compression release zone is adapted for applying reduced compression to the foot in an area between the first and second high compression zones.
Systems and methods for using negative pressure wound therapy to manage open abdominal wounds
Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to the treatment of wounds using negative pressure. Some embodiments disclosed herein provide for a foam pad, which may be suitable for use in abdominal wound sites, and which may be sized in a dimensionally-independent manner. Additional embodiments provide for a wound contact layer, as well as a system for the treatment of abdominal wounds.
Multilayer dressing device and method for preventing and treating pressure ulcers and chronic wounds
The present invention provides a device and method for preventing or curing pressure ulcers or chronic wounds. A multilayer dressing comprises a soft silicone jell layer of a suitable thickness which is placed in the multilayer dressing, above an absorbent layer. The matrix of the silicone jell layer is populated with a plurality of silicone beads of suitable size. The beads are connected to each other, and to the silicone jell layer. Breathing of wound and substantial supply of oxygen to the wound is duly insured for all layers of the multiple layer dressing. The beads play a pivotal role in promoting the effectiveness and performance of the multilayer dressing by acting as the plurality of effective cushions, as they absorb and uniformly redistribute a patient's body weight across the entire applied dressing area. The low adhering adhesive coating of about 5 mm in width is applied to the peripheral edges of all the layers. Unlike the multilayer dressing already available in the market, skipping the application of low adhering adhesive coatings on the entire top and bottom surfaces of the layers helps in promoting overall breathability and consequently, the efficiency of the multilayer dressing of the present invention.
Negative pressure treatment system with heating and cooling provision
A method, and apparatus for the controlled acceleration, and/or retardation of the body's inflammatory response generally comprises a foam pad for insertion substantially into a wound site, a heating, a cooling pad for application over the wound site, a wound drape or sealing enclosure of the foam pad, the heating, and cooling pad at wound site. The foam pad is placed in fluid communication with a vacuum source for promotion of the controlled acceleration or retardation of the body's inflammatory response. The heating, and cooling provision controls the local metabolic function as part of the inflammatory response.
Sock for treatment of foot and leg wounds, methods of use and manufacture
A tubular body is configured to be disposed around and to apply compression to an extremity. The tubular body includes a treatment area having a first filament and a second filament. Both the first filament and the second filament are disposed to engage the surface of the extremity. The first filament includes AgNP in a concentration effective to promote healing of a wound on the surface of the extremity. The second filament includes a metal having a composition that forms a galvanic couple with silver. The first filament and the second filament are arranged in the tubular body such that the AgNP and metal form galvanic couples across at least a portion of the treatment area when in the presence of a fluid in the wound of the extremity that produce an electric current in an amount effective to further promote healing of the wound.
Wound dressing
Apparatus and methods for providing a wound dressing are provided. A wound dressing according to the invention may preferably include a wound-fluid negative pressure treatment (NPT) drain and a vacuum/drainage tube comprising a terminus associated with the NPT drain. The dressing may also include a fluid-absorbing/transferring material. The dressing may also include a contour-conforming draping layer for draping over a wound-bed. The draping layer may be in contact with at least a portion of the fluid-absorbing/transferring material. The dressing may also include a vapor sealant sheet that overlies at least a portion of the fluid-absorbing/transferring layer. The material may also include a tube-anchorage component that is in contact with at least a portion of the vapor sealant sheet. The tube-anchorage component may mechanically maintain placement of the NPT drain within the fluid-absorbing/transferring material.
