A dermal dressing is provided that comprises a foam layer and an adhesive layer applied directly thereon. A textile fabric is arranged on a side of the foam layer facing away from the adhesive layer, and the textile fabric comprises a vertically-lapped nonwoven. A method for producing the dermal dressing of the first aspect is also provided. The method comprises: providing the foam layer; applying the adhesive layer to the foam layer; applying the textile fabric to a side of the foam layer facing away from the adhesive layer; and bonding the foam layer and the textile fabric. The dermal dressing has optimal properties for its use in preventing pressure ulcers.

Introduced here are apparatuses and systems for mitigating contact pressures applied to a human body by the surface of an object, such as a chair, bed, or table. A pressure-mitigation apparatus can include a series of chambers whose pressure can be individually varied. When placed between a patient and a contact surface, the pressure-mitigation apparatus can vary the contact pressure on a specific anatomical region of the patient by controllably inflating and/or deflating one or more cell. Moreover, a pressure-mitigation system can be readily integrated into a conventional treatment regimen for a variety of different conditions.

The present invention relates to a disposable absorbent pad comprising multiple layers. In particular, the absorbent pad of the present invention maintains skin dryness by absorbing moisture while preventing leakage to the skin or the bed linens, allowing air circulation at the surface of the patient's skin to prevent heat buildup, and is strong enough to allow the patient to be repositioned, even when the pad is wet. In a particular embodiment the first layer is comprised of a fluid-permeable, porous material, the second layer is disposed under the first layer and is comprised of at least one super absorbent material, and a base layer disposed under the second layer.

A medical dressing is provided. The dressing has a central portion and a border portion, and comprises a backing layer, an adhesive body contact layer and a pad arranged in the central portion between the backing layer and the adhesive body contact layer. The pad is symmetric about a longitudinal center line and the dressing comprises a lobed portion on each side of the center line. The medical dressing comprises a gripping tab which is coplanar with the border portion and which projects outwardly from the border portion. Described herein are systems and apparatuses for enhanced comfort through contact pressure reduction. In particular, the systems and apparatuses disclosed herein prevent or otherwise mitigate pressure by actively orienting a patient over an anatomy-specific pressure-mitigating contact surface on which the patient rests. A pressure-mitigating contact portion of the contact surface includes a plurality of independently pressurized chambers configured in a specific geometric pattern that is designed to mitigate contact pressure between a support surface (e.g., bed or chair) and a specific anatomic region of a patient's body when the specific anatomic region of the patient's body is oriented over an epicenter of the geometric pattern. Additionally, a plurality of elevated side support portions and a wedge interconnected on the base material are configured to actively orient the specific anatomic region of the patient's body over the epicenter of the geometric pattern.

A geriatric undergarment is provided. The geriatric undergarment dimensioned and adapted to be worn about the waist of a human wearer. The geriatric undergarment may provide coated, pressure absorbent material disposed along an inner surface so as to be disposed along diaper pressure regions of the user, including the right and left lateral, sacral, or posterior and trochanteric and/or posterior dorsal regions. The coated, pressure absorbent material may be shaped in pyramidal or tapered form.

The string wear-supported skin guard includes a waist strap, first and second spaced thigh strings that depend from the waist strap, and one or more detachable absorbent components connected to at least one of the thigh strings. Opposing ends of each thigh string are connected to the waist strap, such that a generally U-shaped loop is defined by each thigh string. Each thigh string can include a generally C-shaped hip string. When the string wear-supported skin guard is worn by a user, the waist strap encircles the user's waist, the hip strings encircle the user's hips, and the thigh strings extend between the hip region, inner thigh area, and buttocks of the user. The one or more absorbent components overly the inner thigh of the user to provide a skin guard for the prevention and treatment of skin irritation and skin rashes in the inner thigh area.
