UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE ELECTROMAGNETIC AVOIDANCE AND UTILIZATION SYSTEM
Methods, systems and apparatus, for an unmanned aerial vehicle electromagnetic avoidance and utilization system. One of the methods includes obtaining a flight package indicating a flight pattern associated with inspecting a structure, the flight pattern causing the UAV to remain at a standoff distance from the structure, wherein the standoff distance is based on an electromagnetic field associated with the structure, and wherein the flight pattern is laterally constrained according to a property geofence associated with a right of way of the structure. The UAV is navigated according to the flight pattern, and the UAV captures images of the structure. For an initial portion of the flight pattern, the UAV navigates at an altitude based on the standoff distance and the property geofence towards the structure. The UAV determines a location at which to capture images of the structure, and the UAV provides the captured images to a user device.
Non-intrusive monitoring
Methods and apparatus for non-intrusive monitoring by sensing physical parameters such as electric and/or magnetic fields. Such apparatus and techniques may find application in a variety of fields, such as monitoring consumption of electricity, for example.
CAPACITIVE VOLTAGE MEASUREMENT DEVICE
To easily measure a voltage to ground of electromagnetic interference waves generated on a cable. A capacitance-to-ground measurement mechanism 10 includes a first electrode 11 and a second electrode 12 positioned at equal altitudes to be opposed to the earth, and a first voltage measurement device 15 to measure a voltage generated in a first resistance 14 connected between the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12 by an output signal from an oscillation circuit 13. A voltage-to-ground measurement mechanism 30 includes a GND electrode 31 positioned at an altitude equal to that of the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12 to be opposed to the earth, and a second voltage measurement device 33 to measure a voltage generated in a second resistance 32 connected between the GND electrode 31 and a probe 34 that is brought into contact with a cable core 106 as a measurement target. A computation mechanism 50 includes a computation device 51 to calculate a voltage to ground of electromagnetic interference waves generated on a cable based on data of respective voltages measured by the capacitance-to-ground measurement mechanism 10 and the voltage-to-ground measurement mechanism 30.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LOCATING AND/OR MAPPING BURIED UTILITIES USING VEHICLE-MOUNTED LOCATING DEVICES
Systems and methods for locating and/or mapping buried utilities are disclosed. In one embodiment, one or more magnetic field sensing locating devices include antenna node(s) to sense magnetic field signals emitted from a buried utility and a processing unit to receive the sensed magnetic field signals may be mounted on a vehicle. The received magnetic field signals may be processed in conjunction with sensed vehicle velocity data to determine information associated with location of the buried utility such as depth and position.
Smart paint stick devices and methods
Location systems and methods for locating paint and other markings on a surface are described. More specifically, but not exclusively, the disclosure relates to smart paint stick devices and methods of use in locating and marking buried utility lines or other buried objects. One system for locating a buried object may include a buried object locator and a paint stick. The locator may include a tracking component configured to detect a location of a buried object. The paint stick may be configured to cause a paint container to dispense paint at a first position associated with the location of the buried object. The paint stick may include a position determination component configured to transmit one or more range vector signals that are detected by the tracking component. Sensors may be used to determine when paint is dispensed from a paint container, and to determine a color of the paint or a type of a marking.
Stud Finder Employing Photochromism
An improved detector device for locating studs and other objects behind a substrate (such as a wall) uses one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) in combination with a photochromic compound to mark the locations on the substrate behind which objects are located.
Electrical protection apparatus
Provided is electrical protection apparatus for operative fitment to a portion of the machinery operable near an electrical conductor and to generate a signal via electromagnetic induction. Also included is a signal isolator configured to electrically isolate the sensor. Also included is a controller arranged in signal communication with the isolator. The controller is configured to monitor the signal and to: i) record a log of movement commands executed by the control system; ii) if the signal reaches a predetermined threshold, override the control system so that the portion of the machinery is only maneuverable to reduce the signal below the predetermined threshold; iii) if the signal exceeds the predetermined threshold, override the control system and execute the most recent movement commands in reverse to automatically manoeuvre the portion of the machinery away from the conductor; and iv) if the signal reaches and/or exceeds the predetermined threshold, activate the indicator.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MONITORING VOLTAGE IN A CABLE
A sensor device for detecting voltage in a conductor cable includes a sense electrode to be disposed over a surface of the conductor cable to cover a sense region having a sense axial width and a sense circumferential length and a reference electrode to be disposed over the surface of the conductor cable to cover a reference region. The reference region has an axial position adjacent the axial position of the sense region and has a reference circumferential length greater than the sense circumferential length. The sensor device further includes a charge measurement circuit connected in series between the sense electrode and the reference electrode to measure a charge measurement and circuitry to compare the charge measurement to a threshold to detect a presence of the voltage in the conductor cable.
