A flushable tampon applicator product includes an outer tube for housing a tampon; an inner tube, at least a portion of which extends into the outer tube, wherein the outer tube includes an outer, body-contacting surface, wherein the inner tube is moveable relative to the outer tube and configured to expel a tampon from the outer tube, and wherein at least one of the outer tube and the inner tube comprises a thermoplastic composition including partially-hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), polyethylene glycol (PEG), a plasticizer, and a hydrophobic polymeric component, wherein at least one of the outer tube and the inner tube is a molded part; and a wrapper material configured for storage under high and low moisture storage conditions, the wrapper material having a water vapor transmission rate of less than 0.05 g/100 in2/day.

Thermoplastic injection molded and flushable material

A water-dispersible injection-moldable composition includes partially-hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), polyethylene glycol (PEG), plasticizer, and a hydrophobic polymeric component, wherein the composition has a melt flow index of 5-180. The hydrophobic polymeric component can be a colorant within an ethylene matrix or polyethylene. The composition is flushable according to Guidance Document for Assessing the Flushability of Nonwoven Consumer Products (INDA and EDANA, 2006); Test FG 522.2 Tier 2—Slosh Box Disintegration Test. The PVOH has a hydrolysis of 87% to 89%.

ELASTOMERIC LAMINATE WITH CONTROL LAYER AND METHODS THEREOF
20210275364 · 2021-09-09 ·

The present disclosure relates to absorbent article incorporating elastomeric laminates that may be formed by stretching and joining an elastic strand with either or both first and second substrates using an adhesive. The elastic strands may be sourced from a wound supply, such as a beam of beamed elastic strands. The beam may be treated with a control layer to reducing blocking when the plurality of elastic strands are on the beam and to provide for reliable unwinding. The control layer may be absorbed into an adhesive once the elastic strands are joined with the first and second substrates with the adhesive to form the elastomeric laminate.

Enzyme degradable system for undergarments and feminine hygiene articles
10792389 · 2020-10-06 ·

An enzyme-degradable system for undergarments and feminine hygiene articles works to decompose the undergarments and feminine hygiene articles upon being triggered by bodily fluids, such as urine. The undergarment or feminine hygiene article comprises an absorbent core, an inner sheet of biodegradable material, and an outer sheet of biodegradable material. The core includes at least one of the following: a cellulose material, a wood pulp, a biodegradable and bioactive thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources (polylactic acid plasticPLA), and a superabsorbent polymer (SAP). The inner and outer sheets comprise a plant based cellulosic nonwoven material. The cellulase enzyme decomposes the absorbent core, the inner sheet, and the outer sheet upon contact with a bodily fluid. The cellulase enzyme may include DIS-1018 Cellulose-AN, a pH buffer, and additives. Fasteners made from a resilient, biodegradable material help secure the undergarments and feminine hygiene articles to the body.

Absorbent article

There is provided an absorbent article with its front-surface sheet composed of cotton fibers by which liquid reversion is prevented and water retention on the front-surface sheet is minimized. An incontinence pad 1 is provided that is configured to absorb urine at medium or more volume that is 20 cc or more. A front-surface sheet 3 is formed of a spunlace nonwoven fabric 100 wt % of which is composed of cotton fibers and which is coated with a water repellent agent, and has, at least at a portion corresponding to an excreting hole, numerous front-face/back-face penetrating openings 10 that are longer shaped in the longitudinal direction of the incontinence pad 1. The cotton fibers form numerous longitudinal streaks 11 and numerous lateral streaks 12, the longitudinal streaks extending along the longitudinal direction of the incontinence pad 1 and being formed with an interval in the width direction of the incontinence pad 1, and the lateral streaks extending along the width direction of the incontinence pad 1 and connecting together the longitudinal streaks formed with an interval in the longitudinal direction of the incontinence pad 1. The openings 10 are formed within portions surrounded by the longitudinal streaks 11 and the lateral streaks 12. The longitudinal streaks 11 have more fibers and are formed at a higher density than the lateral streaks 12.
