Techniques for determining vicinity information for access points using location assistance data
Techniques are described for providing assistance data corresponding to a plurality of access points (APs). The techniques include, in part, providing assistance data to a mobile device. The assistance data comprises group data that is common among the plurality of APs. The group data is associated with a group identifier (ID). The techniques further include providing the group ID and a set of AP-specific information for at least one of the plurality of APs. The group data may include information corresponding to a common grid, common location area and/or common characteristics of the APs.

System and method for receiving a plurality of cellular signals, determining a plurality of context data including at least one of an action data and a location data, mapping the plurality of cellular signals to the plurality of context data, generating a plurality of context signatures based on the mapping of the plurality of cellular signals to the plurality of context data, storing the plurality of context signatures, and determining a context profile associated with the communication device at an instance using a probability distribution of the stored plurality of context signatures.
Crowd-sourced training of a neural network for RSS fingerprinting
A method and system of crowd-sourced training of a neural network for mobile device indoor navigation and positioning. The method, executed in a processor of a server computing device, comprises: based on RSS parameters acquired at a mobile device from a wireless signal source, localizing the mobile device to a first position within indoor area in accordance with a probabilistic confidence level; if the confidence level exceeds a threshold confidence level, adding the RSS parameters in association with the first position to a fingerprint database of the indoor area; and training a neural network implemented in the processor at least in part based on the RSS parameters as added to the fingerprint database.
Method and apparatus for localization and mapping based on RFID
The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus for localization and mapping based on RFID, applicable for real-time mapping of an area to be localized in which at least one RFID tag is arranged, the method comprises: taking a location of a first RFID tag as a coordinate origin of a coordinate system when information of the first RFID tag is obtained by a mobile electronic device which is moving along a certain trajectory for a first time; moving the mobile electronic device with the coordinate origin as a starting point to traverse the entire area to be localized, calculating coordinates of an obstacle based on a location of the mobile electronic device when the mobile electronic device detects the obstacle; constructing a map based on the recorded information and coordinates of the RFID tags and coordinates of each obstacle when the traversal has been finished.
Indoor positioning
Methods, systems and computer program products for updating a wireless-based location records database to provide more accurate indoor positioning are provided. Aspects include receiving a wireless-based location records database including a plurality of wireless-based location records. Aspects also include receiving Wi-Fi data and gait data from a user device. Aspects also include determining an approximate location of a user associated with the user device based on the Wi-Fi data and the plurality of wireless-based location records. Aspects also include receiving image capture data from one or more image capture devices viewing the approximate location of the user. Aspects also include identifying the user based on the image capture data and the gait data. In response to determining an accurate location of the user based on the image capture data, aspects include updating the wireless-based location records database.
Dual function edge device and method for accelerating UE-specific beamforming
An edge device includes a first antenna array that includes a first portion and one or more second portions. The edge device includes control circuitry that senses a surrounding area of the edge device by use of the first portion of the first antenna array. The control circuitry executes beamforming to direct a first beam of radio frequency (RF) signal having a signal strength greater than a threshold to a first user equipment (UE), by use of the one or more second portions of the first antenna array.
Radio Frequency Signal Receiver/Identifier Leveraging Unused Pulses
An RF pulse correlator comprising a track database, an antenna, a receiver, and a processor. The track database is configured to store established tracks of RF emissions. The antenna and receiver are configured to receive RF pulses. The tracker is configured to generate improved geolocation data for every received RF pulse based on kinematics of the received RF pulses. The processor is communicatively coupled to the database, the receiver, and the tracker. The processor is configured to associate each received RF pulse with an existing track in the track database or to create a new track.
METRIC FOR EVALUATING INDOOR POSITIONING SYSTEMS
A method, apparatus, computer program or system includes obtaining fingerprints including a piece of position information and gathered in a venue; determining a first metric based on the fingerprints indicative of a quality value of the obtained fingerprints that indicates for each piece of position information of the fingerprints whether or not the quality and/or a quantity of the obtained fingerprints with respect to the piece of position information is sufficient; determining a second metric based on the obtained fingerprints indicative of a quality value of an infrastructure of the venue, the fingerprints are gathered from one or more radio nodes of the infrastructure, and the second metric indicates for each of the pieces of position information of each of the respective fingerprints whether or not the quality of the infrastructure is sufficient; determining a third metric indicative of an evaluation of the quality of the infrastructure of the venue based on the second metric; and outputting the first metric, the second metric and/or the third metric.
