SURFACE PROTRUSION FORMATIONS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING

Methods and systems for mechanically forming one or more surface protrusions integrally from a garment material, the one or more surface protrusions extending outwardly from a garment surface of the garment material, include placing at least one selected area of the garment surface against a first surface of a forming die having a plurality of openings which have a configuration and orientation corresponding with the configuration and orientation of the one or more surface protrusions of the garment material. The garment surface may be softened by application of a source of energy, wherein the source of energy comprises at least two sonotrodes mounted in a rotary drum. At least some of the softened garment surface is positioned into at least one opening of the plurality of openings.

The garment surface may be softened by application of a source of energy, at least some of the softened garment surface positioned into at least one opening of the plurality of openings.

An absorbent has longitudinal and lateral centerlines, first, second, and target regions, the target region being disposed between the first second regions. Each of the first, second target regions extend laterally across the disposable absorbent article. The disposable absorbent article also has a topsheet; a backsheet; an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet; a fluid management layer disposed between the topsheet and absorbent core; and a target zone disposed in the target region. The target zone has a first plurality of conforming features in at least the absorbent core or a combination of the absorbent core and at least one of the topsheet or fluid management layer. A forming structure includes an outer surface configured to receive a polymer web, an inner surface, a thickness between the outer surface and the inner surface, and a plurality of openings extending through the thickness at an acute angle relative to a plane tangential to the outer surface. Each of the plurality of openings has a shape at the outer surface defined by a first ellipse having a first major axis and a first minor axis and a second ellipse having a second major axis and a second minor axis. The first major axis is substantially parallel to a machine direction and coincides with the second minor axis. The second major axis is substantially parallel to a transverse direction orthogonal to the machine direction and is offset from the first minor axis.

The present disclosure relates to apparatuses and methods for making patterned apertured substrates that may be used as components of absorbent articles. During the manufacturing processes, a precursor substrate advances in a machine direction between a pattern roll and an anvil roll. The pattern roll rotates about an axis of rotation and includes a plurality of pattern surfaces, wherein the substrate is compressed between the anvil roll and the pattern surfaces of the pattern roll to form discrete bond regions in the substrate. The pattern surfaces on the pattern roll are formed on continuous threads extending circumferentially around the axis of rotation along helical paths parallel with each other. As such, the pattern surfaces press the substrate against the outer circumferential surface of the anvil roll in the different axial locations along the cross direction as the pattern roll rotates when forming the discrete bond regions.

A butt crack swab with a pressed molded fiber substrate, a conformal flushable wipe and a binder material. The pressed molded fiber substrate is shaped to fit within the intergluteal cleft of a person and in close proximity to the cluneal cleft. The conformal flushable wipe is fused on top of the molded fiber substrate via the binder material. A preferred embodiment includes the pressed molded fiber substrate made of recyclable material.

An absorbent article is disclosed, including a three-dimensional material formed of a liquid permeable topsheet and an acquisition material. The acquisition material is positioned beneath the topsheet, and both may be formed of nonwoven material. The three dimensional material may have two surfaces and a plurality of protrusions extending in a z-direction from one of the surfaces, each protrusion having side walls defining an opening in the other of the surfaces. One of the topsheet and the acquisition material may include fibers spun of polymer resin pigmented with a first color that differs from a second color of fibers of the other of the topsheet and the acquisition material, and the differing colors are visible when viewing a wearer-facing surface of the absorbent article.
