A closest distance among distances between the plurality of antennas included in the first antenna array and the plurality of antennas included in the second antenna array is larger than an antenna interval of the first antenna array or the second antenna array.

Electronic Devices with Motion Sensing and Angle of Arrival Detection Circuitry

An electronic device may use information about the location of nearby devices to make sharing with those devices more intuitive for a user. The electronic device may include control circuitry, wireless circuitry including first and second antennas, and motion sensor circuitry. The control circuitry may determine the location of a nearby electronic device by calculating the angle of arrival of signals that are transmitted by the nearby electronic device. To obtain a complete, unambiguous angle of arrival solution, the electronic device may be moved into different positions during angle of arrival measurement operations. At each position, the control circuitry may calculate a phase difference associated with the received signals. Motion sensor circuitry may gather motion data as the electronic device is moved into the different positions. The control circuitry may use the received antenna signals and the motion data to determine the complete angle of arrival solution.

Apparatus and method for tracking movement of electronic device

A method for locating positions of electronic devices is provided. The method includes receiving, by a master electronic device, movement information of the electronic devices, and setting the electronic devices to a first reference device, a second reference device, or a normal electronic device, based on the movement information, calculating, by the first reference device, a distance between the first reference device and the second reference device and a distance between the first reference device and the normal electronic device, calculating, by the second reference device, a distance between the second reference device and the normal electronic device, and transmitting the calculated distance information to the first reference device, and calculating, by the first reference device, a position of the normal electronic device by a triangulation method, based on the distances among the first reference device, the second reference device, and the normal electronic device.

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a plurality of antennas to communicate with an external electronic device and at least one processor operatively connected to the plurality of antennas. The processor is configured to detect a tracking start event using an external magnetic material positioned at a location adjacent to the electronic device, to track a location of the external electronic device using the plurality of antennas and, while the tracking is performed, to obtain a height value of the external electronic device when an angle between the electronic device and the external electronic device is a specified angle. The processor is further configured to change a specified condition based on the obtained height value, to detect a tracking end event based on the specified condition, and to change an operating mode associated with the electronic device in response to detecting the tracking end event.
