Ultrasound treatment device and methods of use

A method can include targeting a region of interest below a surface of skin, which contains fat lobuli and delivering ultrasound energy to the region of interest. The ultrasound energy generates a conformal lesion with said ultrasound energy on a surface of a fat lobuli. The lesion creates an opening in the surface of the fat which allows the draining of a fluid out of the fat lobuli and through the opening. In addition, by applying ultrasound energy to fat cells to increase the temperature to between 43° C. and 49° C. degrees, cell apoptosis can be realized, thereby resulting in reduction of fat.

ULTRASOUND-BASED DEVICE LOCALIZATION

A system for localizing a three-dimensional field of view of a beamforming ultrasound imaging probe based on a position indicator disposed within said field of view. The beamforming ultrasound imaging probe transmits and receives ultrasound signals within a three-dimensional field of view comprising a plurality of predetermined sub-volumes, each sub-volume being defined by a two dimensional array of beams. A controller causes the beamforming ultrasound imaging probe to scan the sub-volumes sequentially by transmitting and receiving ultrasound signals corresponding to each beam. A tracking system determines a position of the position indicator within the three-dimensional field of view; and determines a sub-volume in which the position indicator is located. The controller causes the beamforming ultrasound imaging probe to provide a localized field of view including the position of the position indicator by constraining the transmitting and receiving of ultrasound signals to a portion of the sub-volume in which the position indicator is located.

Ultrasonic Capsule Endoscopy Device having Image-based Relative Motion Estimation

Improved localization of the capsule in acoustic capsule endoscopy is provided by using analysis of the frames of the acoustic images to deduce the relative motion of the capsule from frame to frame. This idea can be supplemented with any combination of: further localization methods; propulsion of the capsule via acoustic radiation reaction; bidirectional communication and system level feedback control; energy harvesting; photoacoustic (or x-ray acoustic) imaging; and adding therapy and/or sensor capabilities to the capsule.

Position sensing in intravascular processes

Systems can include at least one friction wheel configured to engage a catheter of an intravascular system such that proximal or distal motion of the catheter causes the friction wheel to rotate. A position sensor can include a reference element and a movable element, wherein the movable element is configured to move relative to the reference element in response to rotation of the at least one friction wheel. The position sensor can provide a position signal representative of the rotation of the at least one friction wheel. An intravascular processing engine can receive both the position signal from the position sensor and an intravascular signal from the catheter.

The ultrasound transmitter device includes an imaging probe; an imaging array; and a therapeutic ultrasound device, wherein the imaging probe is configured to guide the therapeutic ultrasound device to the patients treatment site by use of ultrasound imaging with the imaging array, wherein the therapeutic ultrasound device is configured to produce a controlled intensity of ultrasound energy for treating the patients treatment site, and wherein the imaging probe and the therapeutic ultrasound device are configured to work in conjunction with one another to apply therapeutic ultrasound to tissue or bone graft sites in the patient.

METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND COMPUTER READABLE MEDIA FOR GENERATING IMAGES OF MICROVASCULATURE USING ULTRASOUND

A method for producing an image of at least one vessel with ultrasound includes administering a contrast agent particle into the at least one vessel, and delivering an ultrasound pulse having a first frequency range to the at least one vessel. The method further includes detecting ultrasound energy scattered from the contrast agent particle at a second frequency range that is different from the first frequency range, converting the scattered ultrasound energy into an electronic radio frequency signal, and using an algorithm to determine a spatial location of the contrast agent particle based on extraction of a specific feature of the radio frequency signal. The method further includes generating an image by displaying a marker of the spatial location of the contrast agent particle with a resolution that is finer than a pulse length of the ultrasound pulse and repeating the detecting, converting, using, and generating for a plurality of contrast agent particles until sufficient markers have been accumulated to reconstruct a pattern of the at least one vessel; wherein the pattern is an image of the at least one vessel.
