METHOD FOR REDUCING BLOOD LOSS
The claimed method relates to a method for reducing blood loss. More specifically, the claimed method utilizes at least one compound deposited within and/or on a medical applicator to reduce blood loss experienced by a user. In some embodiments, the method may include depositing at least one compound onto or within a medical applicator which promotes diminished blood flow and coagulation when the applicator is used. More specifically, the medical applicator may have a compound adhered to the surface which acts as a catalyst to instigate blood clotting when the medical applicator is used for its intended purpose. In some embodiments, an antifibrinolytic may be deposited onto the medical applicator. In other embodiments, compounds causing vasoconstriction may be deposited onto the medical applicator. In yet other embodiments, a plurality of compounds may be deposited within and/or on the surface of the medical applicator.
Device and method for placement and removal of a menstrual cup
A device for placement and removal of a menstrual cup according to various aspects of the present disclosure includes an outer component and an inner component. The outer component extends along a longitudinal axis between first proximal and distal ends. The outer component includes a peripheral wall, a first interior region, and a protrusion. The peripheral wall includes an interior surface. The first interior region is at least partially defined by the peripheral wall. The protrusion extends from the interior surface toward the longitudinal axis. In certain aspects, the outer component includes an upper portion and a lower portion removably coupled to the upper portion. The inner component extends between a second proximal and distal ends. The inner component is disposed at least partially within the first interior region. The inner component is slidable along the longitudinal axis with respect to the outer component.
POST-PARTUM HEMORRHAGE TREATMENT DEVICE
An intra-uterine device for treating post-partum hemorrhage (PPH) is described, along with an applicator system. In embodiments, the PPH device is comprised of a mesh pouch that is filled with a plurality of sponges. Each sponge is designed to expand upon absorption of fluids, such as blood. The collective expansion of the sponges within the mesh pouch causes the PPH device to expand within a patient's uterus, thus applying pressure to stanch blood flow. The PPH device is loaded into an applicator which is then inserted into a patient, and a corresponding plunger is used to deploy the PPH device. Following completion of treatment, the PPH device may be removed using a removal strand attached to the pouch that is exposed outside of the patient.
Absorptive anal hygiene apparatus
An absorptive anal hygiene apparatus for anal hygiene includes a sponge body having a body top side, a body bottom side, a body front side, a body back side, a body left side, and a body right side. The body bottom side is larger than the body top side. The sponge body is an absorptive material configured to be inserted within a user's buttocks adjacent the anus to prevent transfer of fecal matter from the user's anus to a user's clothing. A tab is coupled to the body top side of the sponge body. An extraction string is coupled to the tab. The extraction string is pullable to remove the sponge body from the user's buttocks.
TAMPONS COMPOSED OF AN INTEGRAL ABSORBENT MEMBER AND PROCESS FOR MAKING THE SAME
An absorbent tampon made of a compressed strip of needle punched fiber having a needle punch density of at least 5 punches per cm.sup.2. The strip has a minimum width of 30 mm and a minimum length of 100 mm and a minimum tensile strength of 10 N or greater.
MENSTRUAL COLLECTION PRODUCT
A menstrual collection product that includes an absorbent material layer and a flexible elongated component. The absorbent material layer has a diameter that is larger than a thickness thereof. The absorbent material layer has a generally planar configuration. The flexible elongated component is attached to and extends from the absorbent material layer.
ABSORBENT INSERT DEVICES FOR COLLECTING LIQUID AND SEMI-LIQUID INTESTINAL WASTE INSIDE THE INTESTINE OF A HUMAN
Disposable absorbing closures for liquid and semi-liquid intestinal wastes from intestinal openings. In particular, an absorbent insert device for insertion through an ileostomy of a subject, the device being configured to absorb and/or collect intestinal waste inside the ileum of the subject to form a leak-tight closure of the ileostomy, the device including: an expandable elongated body having an initial length and including an absorbent material, and withdrawal means attached to the elongated body, wherein the expandable elongated body is configured to: expand radially upon insertion into the ileum through the ileostomy; and optionally expand longitudinally thereby increasing the length of the elongated body inside the ileum.
Absorbent article with multiple layers
The present invention corresponds to an absorbent article comprising substrates having a top layer and a bottom layer, wherein the substrates are located one on top pf the other. The bottom substrate having attachment media located on the bottom layer, and the top substrate having support media located on the top end and bottom end of the top substrate. The bottom and op substrates are attached throughout the periphery thereof, and the top layer is permeable.
Disposable feminine-hygiene product
A disposable, feminine-hygiene product includes an elongated, hollow tube formed of a lower section telescopically received within an upper section. The top end of the upper section includes a plurality of frangible leaves that immediately separate upon impact. Received within the tube interior is a telescoping shaft having a lower end attached to a knob that, when rotated, releases a spring-biased cylinder to thrust a plurality of absorbent strips through the frangible leaves.
