A TAMPON
A tampon including a body having a longitudinal axis, a front end, a rear end and an outer surface. The body including a liquid-absorbing material operable to absorb and/or retain bodily fluid. A bore extending through the body along the longitudinal axis from the front end to the rear end, said bore defining an inner surface. The tampon also including a liquid-impermeable layer, which includes a liquid-impermeable elastic material and a liquid-permeable layer. The liquid-absorbing material is a fluid. One of the liquid-impermeable layer or the liquid-permeable layer is on at least a portion of the outer surface of the body of the tampon. The other of the liquid-impermeable layer or the liquid-permeable layer is on at least a portion of the inner surface of the body. In use, the liquid-impermeable layer and the liquid-permeable layers are operable to move between a first configuration and a second configuration.
Urinary Plug Device
A disposable device for absorbing urine and/or bodily fluids in the urethra having a cylindrical body having a top and bottom end. The body is made of absorbent material that expands upon contact with urine and bodily fluids and includes a string connected to the bottom end of the body for removing the device from the urethra. The device can include a vasodilator in or on a surface of the body and can be used to treat urinary incontinence and/or erectile dysfunction by inserting into the urethra and removing the device after it has been impregnated with fluid. The device can be included in a kit with a plunger for insertion.
Tampon pledget for increased bypass leakage protection
The present invention provides a tampon pledget with one or more of the following properties: increased absorbency rate; high absorbent capacity and fluid retention; rapid expansion potential; and ease of ejection of the pledget from the applicator. Surprisingly, the one or more properties are achieved by using a modified dual cross-pad, folded, compressed tampon pledget design.
Tampon delivery system for a pharmaceutical, holistic or medicinal component
A tampon and delivery system for a pharmaceutical, holistic or medicinal component, includes: (1) a tampon having a generally cylindrical shape including a leading end and a cylindrical outer surface; (2) an outer delivery sheath applied to at least a portion of the cylindrical outer surface of the tampon, distal from the leading end (and preferably leaving the leading end exposed), where the outer delivery sheath comprises a formulation including (a) a water soluble polymer film carrier and (b) a pharmaceutical, holistic or medicinal component; and (3) an applicator containing the tampon and applied delivery sheath. Methods for preparation of the delivery system and methods of use are also disclosed.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A TAMPON
A tampon (1) has at least one absorbent body made from an absorbent material (6), the tampon (1) having a proximal end (2) and a distal end (3) and a middle part extending between the distal end and the proximal end, as well as an extraction device (5) connected to the absorbent body and situated at the distal end (3). The tampon has a covering made from a nonwoven material (4), which, with the exception of a pass-through opening (13) for the extraction device (5), completely covers at least the distal end (3), by which the escaping of fibers at the distal end (3) is prevented, and the covering additionally forming a protection against the fluid leakage.
WASH-DURABLE, FLUID ABSORBENT SUBSTRATE WITH ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTIES AND/OR IMPROVED WASHABILITY, AND HYGIENE PRODUCT SUCH AS REUSABLE SANITARY NAPKIN
The present invention is directed to a substrate, in particular textile material to which one or more antimicrobial and/or hydrophilic and/or stain release agents are adhered. The agent(s) is/are adhered to the substrate in such a manner that they are not released from the textile even if the textile is wetted or washed, so that the textile is reusable. Washability and/or usability of the textile are improved where one or more hydrophilic and/or stain release agents are adhered to the textile. The substrate can be used, e.g., in a reusable sanitary napkin or other hygiene product. The structure of the hygiene product is disclosed, together with a process of attaching the different layers of the hygiene product together by ultrasonic welding. The invention further relates to a method of finishing a substrate by applying and binding antimicrobial and/or hydrophilic and/or stain release agents to the substrate so that the agents are essentially irreversibly adhered to the finished substrate.
DELIVERY SYSTEMS FOR CONTROL OF BLEEDING IN TRANSURETHRAL PROSTATECTOMY
The present disclosure relates to a gastrointestinal delivery device of a chitosan dressing, where the delivery device is capable of stop bleeding, in particular in connection with TURP procedures. The delivery device may be used in all gastrointestinal bleeding applications and can be used with a biocompatible, foldable, thin profile, chitosan dressing. Various aspects of the device and its uses are provided herein.
Method for producing a tampon
The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a tampon (1) having at least one absorbent body made from an absorbent material (6), the tampon (1) having a proximal end (2) and a distal end (3) and a middle part extending between the distal end and the proximal end, as well as an extraction means (5) connected to the absorbent body and situated at the distal end (3), and the tampon has a covering made from a nonwoven material (4), which, with the exception of a pass-through opening (13) for the extraction means (5), completely covers at least the distal end (3), by which the escaping of fibers at the distal end (3) is prevented, and the covering additionally forming a protection against the fluid leakage.
CHITOSAN DRESSING FOR CONTROL OF BLEEDING IN TRANSURETHRAL PROSTATECTOMY
The present invention relates to a biocompatible, foldable, thin profile, low mass and high surface area, chitosan dressing, optionally modified with catechol, and suitable for treating bleeding in a physiological environment, e.g. bladder, and in particular in connection with the TURP procedure. The characteristics and structures of the chitosan dressing are provided. Methods of making and using the chitosan dressing are also provided.
Absorbent Article
An absorbent article includes a body portion extending along a first axis and having a proximal end and a distal end spaced from the proximal end along the first axis. The absorbent article also includes a plurality of layers radially disposed about the body portion. Each layer includes one or more absorbent petals each extending along a petal axis. The petal axis of one of the petals of one of the layers is angularly offset to the petal axis of an adjacent petal of an adjacent layer. The one or more absorbent petals are movable between a compacted configuration and an expanded configuration. The one or more absorbent petals, when introduced to a fluid, is configured to absorb the fluid and transition from the compacted configuration to the expanded configuration. The absorbent article includes a string coupled to the body portion. The body portion and/or string includes hemp.
