A disposable device for treating a condition of a ureter or kidney having a cylindrical body about 1-2 mm in diameter by about 5 to 10 mm in length and having a top and bottom end. The body is made of absorbent material that expands upon contact with pharmaceutical agent and bodily fluids and includes a string connected to the bottom end of the body for removing the device. The device can be used to treat a condition of the ureter or kidney by inserting into the ureter or kidney, delivering a pharmaceutical agent, and removing the device after it has been impregnated with fluid. The device can be included in a kit with an insertion device and/or appropriate pharmaceutical agents.

Tampon and method for making the same

An absorbent tampon is disclosed herein. The absorbent tampon has a fiber integrated primary absorbent member having an insertion end and a withdrawal end disposed opposite the insertion end, a top portion and a bottom portion as determined by the Secondary Desorption Performance method, and a secondary absorbent member attached to the primary absorbent member and extending outboard of the withdrawal end of the primary absorbent member. The tampon exhibits a wet weight percentage fluid in the bottom portion of at least about 60 percent when measured in accordance with the Secondary Desorption Performance method.

MANIPULATABLE WITHDRAWAL STRINGS FOR TAMPONS

A tampon apparatus including a tampon having distal, insertion end and a proximal end, and a tampon-withdrawal-string having a tied end and a free end. The tied end of the tampon-withdrawal-string is securely attached to the proximal end of the tampon, At least a portion of the tampon-withdrawal-string is a devised-portion, wherein the devised-portion is either elastic or pliant. While the tampon is in an inserted position, the devised-portion facilitates the user to manipulate the tampon-withdrawal-string or a portion thereof. Typically, the free end of the tampon-withdrawal-string is comfortably reachable to a user when the tampon is in an inserted position.

A tampon has a pair of longitudinally extending side edges and an absorbent member. The absorbent member has an insertion area, a withdrawal area, and an intermediate area between the insertion area and the withdrawal area and an attachment area. The absorbent material has a plurality of fiber integrated nonwoven layers but are without fiber integration adjacent layers outboard of the attachment area. A withdrawal line extends from the withdrawal area and is attached to the absorbent member in the attachment area such that each of the plurality of absorbent layers is attached to an adjacent nonwoven layer in the attachment area.

The present invention relates to a device for knotting a thread end so that a loop is formed. The device 1 comprises a knotter assembly 3 for knotting two thread sections of the thread end, as well as a driver 5 for feeding the thread sections to the knotter assembly 3. It further comprises an orbital path 4 along which the driver and the knotter assembly 3 are guided. The orbital path has a knotting region and a turnover region and is designed to guide the driver at different speeds in the knotting region and turnover region. The present invention further relates to a method for knotting a thread end, and to a device for producing tampons having a proximal retrieval thread.
