WEBS FOR ABSORBENT ARTICLES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
The present disclosure is directed, in part, to webs or topsheets for absorbent articles and methods of making the same. The webs and topsheets include bicomponent fibers having a first component and a second component, wherein the first component has a different hydrophilicity than the second component. The webs and topsheets include a continuous land area and discrete zones of modified surface energy. One of the first and second components forms an outer surface of the fibers in the continuous land area and the other of the components at least partially forms an outer surface of the fibers in the discrete zones of modified surface energy such that the discrete zones of modified surface energy have a different hydrophilicity than the continuous land area.
Moisture Detecting Article and Method of Making Same
Disclosed is a moisture indicating article having at least 3 layers. The first layer is desirably colored or includes a graphic image and is capable of wicking water. The second layer is a bonding agent. The third layer is also capable of wicking water and is opaque to translucent when dry and becomes very translucent to transparent when wet. The bonding agent allows for the passage of water. When used as part of a dressing, upon getting wet, the color or graphic becomes visible allowing a caretaker to know that it is time to replace the dressing.
ABSORBENT ARTICLES COMPRISING SENSORS
A sensor system for detecting a property of or within an absorbent article may comprise an absorbent article and a sensor. The absorbent article may comprise a garment-facing layer and an absorbent assembly. The sensor may be disposed in and/or on the absorbent article. The sensor may be separable from the absorbent article. The sensor may be configured to sense a change in condition within the absorbent article.

Intelligent diaper
An intelligent diaper includes an inner layer configured to be substantially liquid-pervious; a transparent outer layer configured to be substantially liquid-impervious; a middle layer disposed between the inner layer and the transparent outer layer and configured to absorb liquid from a diaper wearer's body; a core member disposed between the transparent outer layer and the middle layer, and the core member including an identification zone having a 2D barcode, a color calibration zone, and a test zone having two spaced test paper strips; urine indication strips disposed between the transparent outer layer and the middle layer and being adjacent to the core member; a negative comparison zone having two spaced negative color comparison cards; and a positive comparison zone having two spaced positive color comparison cards. Color of the urine indication strips changes in response to expelled waste.
Anti-Microbial Balanced Weave and Process Therefore
In an embodiment, a material includes at least one outer section and a midsection attached to the outer section. The midsection includes a first antimicrobial membrane patch layer configured to contact a body, a second antimicrobial membrane patch layer disposed adjacent to the first antimicrobial patch layer, and an air gap disposed between the first patch and second antimicrobial patch layers. The first and second antimicrobial patch layers each are formed from respective balanced warp tows and fill tows in a plain-weave pattern, and each layer include copper filaments disposed in a plurality of the tows, each of the copper filaments including at least Cu+ or Cu+++ ions. Such a material may be suitable for notification and protection of a body from a soil deposited on the material.
Hot melt wetness indicator composition that includes a leuco dye, and articles including the same
A hot melt wetness indicator composition that includes a water insoluble thermoplastic polymer, an anionic surfactant, a leuco dye, and a component selected from the group consisting of acid, rosin-based tackifying agent, plasticizer and combinations thereof, and is homogeneous is disclosed. The hot melt wetness indicator composition exhibits a color change after contact with water.
Indicator panels for incontinence products
Indicating panels adapted to provide a qualitative or quantitative indication of a characteristic of a liquid absorbed by the indicator panel. The indicating panels include a porous inner sheet that is impregnated with a first indicator selected to respond to a target analyte by creating a detectable response, and a porous outer sheet impregnated with a polymeric mordant selected to stabilize indicators.

The present disclosure generally relates to an absorbent pad for use in a garment and a garment having the absorbent pad. The absorbent pad includes a liquid impermeable barrier layer; a functional assembly attached to the barrier layer; and a peripheral assembly attached to a periphery of the functional assembly, at least part of the peripheral assembly being liquid impermeable. The functional assembly includes an absorbent layer attached to the barrier layer, the absorbent layer for absorbing liquid; and a wicking layer attached to the absorbent layer. The wicking layer is arranged to face towards a skin of a user when in use. The wicking layer transfers liquid to the absorbent layer. The wicking layer and the absorbent layer are attached at a plurality of discrete points between them to facilitate liquid transfer from the wicking layer to the absorbent layer via areas around the discrete points.
Incontinence assistance appliances and garments
An incontinence assist appliance for a user includes an envelope including a surface, such as an upper outside surface, for contact with the user. A removable bladder is receivable within the envelope and includes a port for attachment of a catheter which passes through an opening in the outer envelope. The bladder contains a urine absorbing substance so that it avoids spills of liquid urine. The envelope may be formed as a wearable garment. A pair of trousers incorporating the appliance in each leg is also provided.
