A fixture for aligning a linear array of optical fiber terminators includes a base and a heightwise stack of positioning devices disposed on the base. Each positioning device includes an anchor secured to a lengthwise wall of a bracket coupled to the base, a terminator holder flexibly coupled to the anchor and having a lengthwise channel for holding a respective optical fiber terminator, and actuators controlling position and yaw of the terminator holder in a plane orthogonal to the heightwise direction. The terminator holder has planar top and bottom surfaces that define a height of the terminator holder and interface with the terminator holder of any adjacent positioning device. The fixture also includes a clamp for clamping the positioning device stack against the base after setting the in-plane position and yaw of each terminator holder. Individual positioning devices may be adjusted or replaced without disturbing the rest of the stack.

Ingress protected, outdoor rated adapter and method of assembly to an outdoor connector

An outdoor rated ingress protected one-piece adapter with a first and second end. First end accepts a fiber optic adapter configured to accept a LC, SN, CS, SC or MPO fiber ferrule assembly. A second end accepts a cable gland assembly that secures a cable therein. The first end is configured to accept an outdoor rated connector having a fiber connector therein. The connector/adapter assembly is rated for outdoor use.

Tooling and method for manufacturing a fiber optic array

A fixture (44/244) is for forming a fiber optic array (10/110/210) that defines a plurality of discrete fibers (12) extending from a spaced-apart arrangement to a consolidated arrangement wherein the fibers (12) are layered next to each other for a further ribbonizing process. The fixture (44/244) includes a pair of contact blades (54/254) that are configured to slide along a direction transverse to the longitudinal axes of the fibers (12) for consolidating the fibers (12).

Apparatus and Method of Providing an Interface to an Electrically Powered Instrument

An interface device includes first and second connectors adapted to be joined together in an operating position. One or more first optical data conduits extend through the first connector, with each first optical data conduit terminating at a respective first optical conduit end which is operatively aligned with a respective first optical lens. One or more second optical data conduits extend through the second connector, with each second optical data conduit terminating at a respective second optical conduit end which is operatively aligned with a respective second optical lens. Each respective second optical data conduit and respective second optical lens are aligned for optical coupling across a coupling region with one of the first optical conduits and respective first optical lens when the first connector and second connector are joined in the operating position. The interface also includes a wireless or contact-type electrical power transfer arrangement.

FIBER OPTIC ADAPTER

The fiber optic adapter may include a main body having a first end portion and a second end portion spaced apart along a length direction, the first end portion having at least a first port configured for receiving at least one ferrule, the second end portion having at least a second port configured for receiving a fiber optic connector; and a sleeve holder provided within the main body and between the first end portion and second end portion such that the first port is in communication with the second port to establish an optical connection. The first port has holding elements to define a receiving space to receive the ferrule, and the receiving space is configured to be expanded when inserting the at least one ferrule into the first port. The fiber optic adapter may receive a ferrule without the need of an outer housing or a spring.

A method organizes fibers. A plurality of fibers is received into a first assembly. An initial sequence of the plurality of fibers in the first assembly is obtained. A set of key combinations is identified from the initial sequence and a predetermined sequence. A second assembly is slid across the first assembly. The set of key combinations is actuated to move the plurality of fibers from the first assembly to the second assembly and order the plurality of fibers in the second assembly in the predetermined sequence.
