A volume hologram is arranged inside a transparent portion of a pane of a display device for a vehicle. The display device further includes a light source by which light is coupled into the volume hologram. An image appearing three-dimensional to a human observer can be generated by use of the volume hologram. A camera includes a light-sensitive image sensor to acquire images via an optical unit which is at least partially formed by the transparent portion of the pane.
WIDE ANGLE AUGMENTED REALITY DISPLAY
In an embodiment, an augmented reality display provides an expanded eye box and enlarged field of view through the use of holographic optical elements. In at least one example, an incoupling element directs an image into a waveguide, which transmits the image to a set of outcoupling gratings. In one example, a set of holographic optical elements opposite the outcoupling elements reflect the image to the user with an enlarged field of view while maintaining an expanded eye box.
Systems, articles, and methods for integrating holographic optical elements with eyeglass lenses
Systems, articles, and methods integrate photopolymer film with eyeglass lenses. One or more hologram(s) may be recorded into/onto the photopolymer file to enable the lens to be used as a transparent holographic combiner in a wearable heads-up display employing an image source, such as a microdisplay or a scanning laser projector. The methods of integrating photopolymer film with eyeglass lenses include: positioning photopolymer film in a lens mold and casting the lends around the photopolymer film; sandwiching photopolymer film in between two portions of a lens applying photo polymer film to a concave surface of a lens and/or affixing a planar carrier (with photopolymer film thereon) to two points across a length of a concave surface of a lens.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SIMULTANEOUS RECORDING OF SUPERIMPOSED HOLOGRAPHIC GRATINGS FOR AUGMENTED REALITY DEVICES (VARIANTS)
A method and systems for simultaneous recording of superimposed holographic gratings for augmented reality devices are provided. The method includes: generating a beam by a single light source, directing the beam to a decoherence unit at a predetermined angle, forming at least two recording beams by the decoherence unit by splitting the beam, forming at least two recording channels in the decoherence unit to transmit the at least two recording beams and output them from the decoherence unit, output angles of each of the at least two recording beams being different, the at least two recording beams being non-interfering when leaving the decoherence unit, which is provided in accordance with at least one of: output times, spatial positions, polarization states, or spectral compositions of each of the at least two recording beams, illuminating a recording material layer and one master diffractive optical element/master holographic optical element (master DOE/HOE) comprising at least one preliminary formed diffraction/holographic grating by the at least two non-interfering recording beams, simultaneously forming at least two superimposed holographic gratings from the master DOE/HOE on or in the recording material layer, the formed superimposed holographic gratings having a same surface period, but a different spatial period.
HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAY APPARATUS INCLUDING FREEFORM CURVED SURFACE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF
A holographic display apparatus including a freeform curved surface and an operating method of the holographic display apparatus are provided. The holographic display apparatus includes: an image generator configured to generate a hologram image by modulating light; an optical system including a freeform curved surface for forming the hologram image generated by the image generator in a predetermined depth; and a processor configured to generate a computer-generated hologram (CGH) based on three-dimensional image information by using a phase map including information about an optical aberration with respect to the freeform curved surface and to control the image generator to modulate the light based on the CGH.
Display apparatus capable of reducing luminance unevenness and color unevenness
The display apparatus of the present disclosure includes an imaging light generating device and an optical system on which imaging light emitted from the imaging light generating device is incident. The optical system includes a first optical unit having positive power, a second optical unit having a positive power and including a first diffraction element, a third optical unit having positive power, and a fourth optical unit having positive power and including a second diffraction element forming an exit pupil, the first optical unit, the second optical unit, the third optical unit, and the fourth optical unit being aligned in order along an optical path of the imaging light. The second diffraction element is constituted of a volume hologram and has, in a cross-sectional view of the volume hologram, interference fringes continuously varying in pitch and inclination thereof from one end toward another end of the second diffraction element.
LAMINATED GLAZING HAVING HOLOGRAPHIC FILM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A LAMINATED GLAZING
A method of preparing a glazing, comprising: stacking a first glass sheet, a first interlayer, a photopolymer film, a second interlayer, and a second glass sheet to provide a lamination stack; &airing the lamination stack; autoclaving the lamination stack to provide a laminated glazing; applying a reactive light to the photopolymer film in the laminated glazing, wherein reactive light is applied to the laminated glazing through a master holographic film; and bleaching the laminated glazing such that the photopolymer film is no longer reactive to light exposure.
DIFFRACTIVE OPTICAL ELEMENT (DOE) ON AN IMAGING SENSOR TO REDUCE AND MINIMIZE FLARE
An imaging sensor assembly to reduce flare and ghost effects and enhance sharpness in a head-mounted device (HMD) is provided. The imaging sensor assembly may include a diffractive optical element (DOE). The imaging sensor assembly may also include a sensor substrate under the diffractive optical element (DOE). In some examples, the sensor substrate may include a plurality of color filters, and a plurality of photodiodes to detect optical illumination that passes through the diffractive optical element (DOE) to create one or more images.
EMBEDDED EYE TRACKER USING PUPIL EXPANDER GLARE PRISM
A head-up display and a system and method of operating a head-up display. The head-up display includes a prism, an imager and a camera. The prism has a first surface and a second surface. An infrared-reflective coating on the second surface of the prism has a maximum reflectivity at a selected wavelength. The imager is configured to project a hologram into the prism via the first surface, out of the prism via the second surface, through the infrared-reflective coating and into an eyebox. The camera is configured to receive an eye tracking beam from the eyebox that is reflected from the infrared-reflective coating. A processor determines eye information from the eye tracking beam and adjusts a parameter of the hologram based on the eye information.
