Light source device and projection-type display apparatus
A light source device includes: blue, green, and red laser light sources; a first retardation plate that controls polarization of blue laser light emitted from the blue laser light source; a polarizing beam splitter that separates the blue laser light whose polarization is controlled by the first retardation plate into a first blue laser light and a second laser light; a second retardation plate that controls polarization of the second blue laser light separated by the polarizing beam splitter; a fluorescent plate that is excited by the first blue laser light separated by the polarizing beam splitter and emits fluorescent light including a green component and a red component; a first dichroic mirror that combines the second blue laser light whose polarization is controlled by the second retardation plate and light emitted from the green and red laser light sources, to generate combined laser light; a dynamic diffuser plate that diffuses the combined laser light combined by the first dichroic mirror to generate diffused laser light; and a second dichroic mirror that combines the diffused laser light diffused by the dynamic diffuser plate and the fluorescent light emitted from the fluorescent plate.
System and method for a multi-primary wide gamut color system
Systems and methods for a multi-primary color system for display. A multi-primary color system increases the number of primary colors available in a color system and color system equipment. Increasing the number of primary colors reduces metameric errors from viewer to viewer. One embodiment of the multi-primary color system includes Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Yellow, and Magenta primaries. The systems of the present invention maintain compatibility with existing color systems and equipment and provide systems for backwards compatibility with older color systems.
LASER LOCAL DIMMING FOR PROJECTORS AND OTHER LIGHTING DEVICES INCLUDING CINEMA, ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS, AND DISPLAYS
Light from an array of laser light sources are spread to cover the modulating face of a DMD or other modulator. The spread may be performed, for example, by a varying curvature array of lenslets, each laser light directed at one of the lenslets. Light from neighboring and/or nearby light sources overlap at a modulator. The lasers are energized at different energy/brightness levels causing the light illuminating the modulator to itself be modulated (locally dimmed). The modulator then further modulates the locally dimmed lights to produce a desired image. A projector according to the invention may utilize, for example, a single modulator sequentially illuminated or separate primary color modulators simultaneously illuminated.
Digital masking system, pattern imaging apparatus and digital masking method
A digital masking system includes a supporting structure for supporting a material, and a pattern imaging apparatus. The pattern imaging apparatus includes a light source device, multiple imaging devices that convert light from the light source device into a plurality of light beams each representing an image, and a combiner that combines the light beams into a single light beam which is projected toward a material.
DISPLAY SYSTEM WITH SPATIAL LIGHT MODULATOR ILLUMINATION FOR DIVIDED PUPILS
Illuminations systems that separate different colors into laterally displaced beams may be used to direct different color image content into an eyepiece for displaying images in the eye. Such an eyepiece may be used, for example, for an augmented reality head mounted display. Illumination systems may be provided that utilize one or more waveguides to direct light from a light source towards a spatial light modulator. Light from the spatial light modulator may be directed towards an eyepiece. Some aspects of the invention provide for light of different colors to be outcoupled at different angles from the one or more waveguides and directed along different beam paths.
DEVICES WITH MONOCHROMATIC LIQUID CRYSTAL ON SILICON DISPLAYS
A method includes projecting a single color illumination light having a first color on a liquid crystal on silicon display device, thereby obtaining a single color image light having the first color from the liquid crystal on silicon display device. The method also includes receiving image light having at least a second color that is different from the first color from a display panel that is different from a liquid crystal on silicon display device and combining the single color image light and the image light for projection toward an eye.

VORTEX BEAM-EXCITED PRECISION GRATING DISPLACEMENT MEASUREMENT APPARATUS AND MEASUREMENT METHOD
A vortex beam-excited precision grating displacement measurement apparatus, which performs displacement measurement by taking a vortex beam carrying topological charges as an excitation light source of a grating and by using the interference of a ±m-order diffracted vortex beam. In the vortex beam-excited precision grating displacement measurement method and apparatus, the displacement p/m of the measured displacement corresponds to the rotation of a circle 2π rad of an interference petal pattern, and then the rotation of 1° of the interference petal pattern corresponds to the measured displacement amount of p/360m. Compared with a conventional grating measurement method, the present disclosure provides a grating interference sensing signal that realizes a higher optical subdivision rate itself.
