Accommodating cavity lens shaped with photocleavable insert

A lens comprises an internal cavity structure formed by dissolution of a soluble insert material. The internal soluble material may dissolve through a body of a lens such as a contact lens in order to form the cavity within the contact lens. The cavity within the lens can be shaped in many ways and corresponds to the shape of the dissolved material, such that many internal cavity shapes can be readily fabricated within the contact lens. The insert can be placed in a mold with a pre-polymer material, and the pre-polymer material cured with the insert placed in the mold to form the lens body. The polymerized polymer may comprise a low expansion polymer in order to inhibit expansion of the lens when hydrated. The polymer may comprise a hydrogel when hydrated. The soft contact lens material comprises a sufficient amount of cross-linking to provide structure to the lens and shape the cavity.

Accommodating soft contact lens

An accommodating contact lens comprises a variable focus optical module, which comprises an optical chamber and one or more eyelid engaging chambers coupled to the optical chamber with one or more extensions comprising channels extending between the optical chamber and the more eyelid engaging chambers. The module may comprise a self-supporting module capable of supporting itself prior to placement in a contact lens to facilitate placement prior to encapsulation in the contact lens. The module may comprise one or more optically transmissive materials, provides improved optical correction, and can be combined with soft contact lens materials such as hydrogels. In many embodiments, the module comprises a support structure extending between an upper membrane and a lower membrane in order to provide variable optical power accurately with decreased amounts distortion and improved responsiveness to eyelid induced pressure.

The present invention relates to a contact lens for presbyopia and, more specifically, to a contact lens for presbyopia, providing both a far-distance vision area and a near-distance vision area in one contact lens, and continuously forming a lens magnification of the far-distance vision area and the near-distance vision area of the dominant eye and the non-dominant eye while changing the sizes of the far-distance vision area and the near-distance vision area of two eyes according to the dominant eye and the non-dominant eye, such that an intermediate-distance area is partially overlapped, thereby continuously providing a near-distance vision area at a far distance by a neural summation phenomenon that selects a clearly visible image in both eyes.

Lens for myopic eye

An ophthalmic lens element includes an upper distance viewing zone and a lower near viewing zone. The upper distance viewing zone includes a central region with a first refractive power for clear distance vision and peripheral regions that are relatively positive in power compared to the first refractive power. The lower near viewing zone has a central region that is relatively positive in power compared to the first refractive power to account for accommodative lag. The powers of the peripheral regions of the lower near viewing zone are one of: i) equal to the power of the central region of the lower near viewing zone, ii) relatively positive in comparison to the power of the central region of the lower near viewing zone.

A contact lens (1) comprises an optical zone (5) extending with a first diameter (A) about an optical axis (X) of the lens, and is provided with a first dioptric power and a central region (6), extending about the optical axis (X) with a second diameter (B), smaller than the first diameter, inside which is provided an optically inactive zone (7) with a diameter smaller than 0.5 mm.

Contact lenses for myopic eyes and methods of treating myopia

A contact lens and a method for treating an eye with myopia is described. The contact lens includes an inner optic zone and an outer optic zone. The outer optic zone includes at least a portion with a first power, selected to correct distance vision. The inner optic zone has a relatively more positive power (an add power). In some embodiments the add power is substantially constant across the inner optic zone. In other embodiments the add power is variable across the inner optic zone. While in some embodiments the inner optic zone has a power designed to substantially eliminate lag of accommodation in the eye with myopia, in other embodiments, the add power may be higher.
