An alignment film for liquid crystal display device includes a first portion positioned towards to the liquid crystal layer and a second portion positioned away from the liquid crystal layer. The first portion provides improved anchoring force while the second portion exhibits a lower volume resistance than the first portion. Thus, AC image sticking and DC image sticking can be minimized at the same time.

Stabilization for privacy display

A display comprises a polarised output spatial light modulator, switchable liquid crystal retarder, absorbing polarizer and touch panel electrodes. The switchable liquid crystal layer is stabilised by a cured reactive mesogen material during application of an applied voltage. Light scatter in privacy mode is reduced and visual security level enhanced. Visibility of disclinations during application of applied pressure, for example from a finger on a touch screen is minimised.

Provided is an optical film with a resin substrate adhered to an optically anisotropic layer and suppression of occurrence of optical defects in the optically anisotropic layer. The optical film has a resin substrate having an alignment regulating force and an optically anisotropic layer arranged thereon, in which the optically anisotropic layer contains a liquid crystal compound and a compound having a heteroatom different from the liquid crystal compound, and in a case where a surface of the optical film on an optically anisotropic layer side thereof is a first surface and a surface of the optical film on a resin substrate side thereof is a second surface, and components of the optical film in a depth direction are analyzed by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry while irradiating the optical film with an ion beam from the first surface toward the second surface, the obtained profile satisfies a predetermined requirement.

Light Modulation Element

A light modulation element that can vary between a bright transparent mode and a dark scattering mode is provided. The light modulation element has a first light modulation layer and a second light modulation layer comprising nematic liquid crystals and a dichroic dye in a scattering mode when a voltage is applied. The first light modulation layer and the second light modulation layer are disposed to overlap each other. The light modulation element has an improved contrast ratio and haze-variable characteristics, without precipitation of dichroic dyes and an increase in power consumption.

Sensing display apparatus

A sensing display apparatus includes a pixel array substrate, a sensing device substrate, and a display medium layer. The sensing device substrate includes a first substrate, a sensing device, first to third signal lines, and a shielding layer. The sensing device includes a first switching element electrically connected with the first and second signal lines, an electrically conductive layer electrically connected with the third signal line, an electrode layer electrically connected with the first switching element and a photo-sensitive layer disposed between the electrically conductive layer and the electrode layer. The shielding layer is disposed between the first to third signal lines and the pixel array substrate. The sensing display apparatus has light transmitting regions and a light shielding region surrounding the light transmitting regions. The sensing device and the first to third signal lines are disposed in the light shielding region.

The present application provides a display panel and a display device. The display panel includes a liquid crystal layer, a light adjustment layer, and a reflection layer. The liquid crystal layer includes a plurality of liquid crystal molecules. The light adjustment layer includes a plurality of light adjustment portions, and each of the light adjustment portions and a corresponding one of the liquid crystal molecules include a contact interface. The reflection layer is disposed on a side of the liquid crystal layer and the light adjustment layer away from a display side and corresponds to the light adjustment portions. An incident light is totally reflected at the contact interface or passes through the contact interface.
