LEAKAGE CURRENT DETECTION AND CONTROL FOR ONE OR MORE ELECTRICALLY CONTROLLABLE PRIVACY GLAZING STRUCTURES
An electrical characteristic of a privacy glazing structure and indicative of a health of the privacy glazing structure can be measured at a first time and at a second time later than the first time. In response to detecting a change in the electrical characteristic indicating a change in the health of the privacy glazing structure, one or more parameters of an electrical drive signal can be adjusted to compensate for the change in the health of the privacy glazing structure. The electrical characteristic can be measured at a plurality of times after the second time and compared to the electrical characteristic measured at the first time. If, at any of the plurality of times, the measured electrical characteristic differs from the electrical characteristic measured at the first time by more than a threshold amount, one or more parameters of the electrical drive signal can be adjusted.
OPTICAL SYSTEM WITH SWITCHABLE DIFFUSER
An optical system including a lighting component and a switchable diffuser in optical communication with the lighting component. The optical system may further include a low absorbing optical component. At least one outer surface of the switchable diffuser and/or the low absorbing optical component includes light redirecting structures. When the switchable diffuser is in a first state and the optical system produces a light output, the light redirecting structures are configured to increase the full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of the light output of the optical system in at least one direction by at least 5 degrees relative to that of an otherwise equivalent optical system that does not include the light redirecting structures.
ELECTRO-SWITCHABLE SPECTACLES FOR MYOPIA TREATMENT
An apparatus to treat refractive error of an eye comprises an electroactive component configured to switch between a light scattering or optical power providing configuration to treat refractive error of the eye and a substantially transparent configuration to allow normal viewing. The electroactive component can be located on the lens away from a central axis of the lens to provide light to a peripheral region of the retina to decrease the progression of myopia. The electroactive component can be located on the lens away from the central axis of the lens in order for the wearer to view objects through an optical zone while the electroactive component scatters light. The electroactive component can be configured to switch to the substantially transparent configuration to allow light to pass through the electroactive component and to allow the lens to refract light to correct vision and allow normal viewing through the lens.
Optical arrangement for providing privacy
A masking device disposed over a display has a first viewing region, a second viewing region, a first operating mode, and a second operating mode, wherein in the first operating mode the masking device allows a first observer located in the first viewing region to observe information displayed on the display, and also allows a second observer located in the second viewing region to observe the displayed information, wherein in the second operating mode the masking device projects light to the second viewing region so as to prevent the second observer from observing the displayed information.
Liquid crystal composite material, light switching device, display device and manufacturing methods thereof
A liquid crystal composite material is disclosed, including a polymer matrix, and a light-blocking body dispersed in the polymer matrix, wherein when no voltage is applied, the light-blocking body is randomly oriented so that the liquid crystal composite material is in a black state, and wherein when a voltage is applied, the light-blocking body is orderly oriented and the polymer matrix scatters incident light, so that the liquid crystal composite material is in a scattering state. A light switching device, a display device and methods for manufacturing the liquid crystal composite material, the light switching device, and the display device are further disclosed.
DISPLAY APPARATUS
According to an aspect, a display apparatus includes: a first light-transmissive substrate; a second light-transmissive substrate arranged to face the first light-transmissive substrate; a liquid crystal layer including polymer dispersed liquid crystals sealed between the first light-transmissive substrate and the second light-transmissive substrate; at least one light-emitting device arranged to face at least one of a side surface of the first light-transmissive substrate or a side surface of the second light-transmissive substrate; and at least one reflector arranged on at least one of a side surface of the first light-transmissive substrate or a side surface of the second light-transmissive substrate, the side surface of the first or second light-transmissive substrate being on an opposite side of the side surface of the first or second light-transmissive substrate to which the at least one light-emitting device faces, and configured to reflect light at the side surface on the opposite side.
Display apparatus, display method thereof, and head-up display apparatus
A display apparatus includes a display unit (2) and an image processing unit (3). The display unit may be configured to project light for a display image. The image processing unit may be configured to change polarization direction of the light for the display image and to selectively scatter or transmit the light for the display image based on the polarization direction of the light for the display image.
