An image display device according to the present disclosure includes: one or more image sources that output a two-dimensional projection image; and one or more image deflection sections that generate a plurality of area images by dividing the projection image from the image source into a plurality of areas at least in a horizontal direction, and deflects and projects, toward a screen having anisotropic diffusion properties, the plurality of area images at respective angles different from each other to partially overlap the plurality of area images with each other on the screen and thereby display images from a plurality of viewpoints.

IMAGE CALIBRATION FOR PROJECTED IMAGES

Systems, methods and apparatus to continuously calibrate images displayed on a screen or surface by one or more projection devices during display of the images are disclosed. The systems, methods and apparatus comprise defining a plurality of fiducial markers on the screen, detecting, by a registration device, such as a camera, the plurality of fiducial markers in an image of the screen, adding a plurality of reference markers to an image displayed on the screen, detecting, by the registration device, the plurality of reference markers in the displayed image, determining a mapping between positions of the reference markers on the screen to positions of the reference markers in the displayed images, calculating an image warp based on the mapping and a layout of the images to be displayed and applying the image warp to images from an image generator to produce geometrically corrected images for display on the screen.

Rear projection simulator with freeform fold mirror

The present invention provides a rear projection simulator system with a free-form fold mirror. The system includes a high definition projector and a curved screen. The free-form fold mirror is interposed between the projector and the screen. The free-form fold mirror includes one or more non-planar (e.g., curved) portions to eliminate or reduce loss of resolution of the projected image near the edges or boundaries of the image.

Provided are a projection apparatus and a projection method capable of uniformly projecting a projection image, in which blurring is suppressed, onto a projection target having projected and recessed portions outside the focal depth of a projection lens by using the afterimage effect. The projection apparatus includes: a light source; a projection image generation unit; a projection lens that projects a projection image generated by the projection image generation unit onto a projection target having projected and recessed portions, where a defocus optical transfer function at a specific frequency has two or more local maximum values and a second largest local maximum value is equal to or greater than 0.5 times a first largest local maximum value; an oscillation mechanism that oscillates the projection lens in a direction of an optical axis T; and a control unit that controls an amplitude and a period of the oscillation mechanism.

A display device comprises a projection device projecting a display image, an aerial imaging element, and a distribution mechanism in which distribution units are arranged at a given interval. An interval between the distribution units is determined according to a relationship between a number of view point pixels constituting a pixel unit, a number of pixel units, a distance from the pixel unit at a center to the pixel unit at an edge, a distance from a distribution unit at a center to the distribution unit at an edge, a pitch of the view point pixel, an angle of light from the pixel unit at the center emitted to the distribution unit, and an angle of the emitted light, an angle of light from the pixel unit at the edge emitted to the distribution unit, and an angle of the emitted light, a distance between the projection device and the distribution units, a refractive index of the distribution mechanism, a distance between the real image and an optimal viewing position for a viewer, and a projection width.

Three dimensional display environment and viewing theater

The invention is generally directed to a visual attraction which provides a multi-dimensional audio/video experience in which the three dimensional screens provide for a three dimensional appearing display of two dimensional images in anticipation of and leading up to a reveal event in which the screens rise to expose a view behind the screens. The visual attraction also collects and separates the visitors to the visual attraction by collecting a predetermined grouping of the visitors and processing them through the attraction in a fashion which provides a manageable flow of visitors spaced apart by the length of the show which then passes the group of visitors in the attraction to the remainder of the attraction before collecting and passing through the next group.
