20190099166 · 2019-04-04 ·

A method of analyzing vaginal fluid includes collecting vaginal fluid in a vaginal fluid collecting system and transporting the collected vaginal fluid to a location for analysis. The analysis can be stored in and retrieved from a secure cloud storage data base.

DEVICE FOR COLLECTING A FRACTION OF THE PERSPIRATION EXCRETED BY A SUBJECT

A device for collecting a fraction of the perspiration excreted by a subject, the device being of the type including a multi-layer patch including: a first layer including at least one perspiration-collecting aperture and a transfer opening; a hydrophilic absorbent layer, positioned above the first layer and communicating with the external environment, and communicating with the first layer via the transfer opening; a film, possibly transparent, that constitutes a barrier against water and against vapour, and that covers at least the upper face of the absorbent layer; the device notably including means for regulating the rate at which perspiration in the liquid and/or vapour state penetrates into the absorbent layer.

SYSTEM, METHOD, ARTICLE, GARMENT AND APPARATUS FOR OBTAINING BODILY INFORMATION FROM MENSTRUAL FLUID
20190069827 · 2019-03-07 ·

Systems, methods, techniques, articles, garments and apparatuses for obtaining bodily information from menstrual fluid. A patch portion with a biosensor is placed within the garment or article in communication with the menstrual blood flow. The measured bodily information obtained from the menstruating woman is then transmitted either physically or electronically to a lab or others for further analysis.

IMPROVEMENTS IN AND RELATING TO POLYMER MATERIALS

Polyurethane material for indicating pH at a locus, preferably as indication of presence of microbes, comprising a polyurethane network having immobilised therein one or more hydrophilic copolymers, the or each said copolymer comprising: hydrophilic monomer; and indicating monomer, which provides an indication in response to a change in hydrophilic state of said hydrophilic monomer and/or copolymer; characterised in that the or each copolymer further comprises one or a plurality of ionisable groups or moieties or polymerisable monomers having one or more characteristic pKa values in the range 5 to 10 and which are responsive to pH at the locus in the range pH 5 to pH 10 and in that hydrophilic state of hydrophilic copolymer is dependent on ionisation of said ionisable groups, moieties or monomers; kit and device comprising the material and process for preparation thereof; and use in detecting or sensing microbes or pH.

DEVICE AND KIT FOR INDICATING A PH AT A LOCUS

Device comprising polyurethane material for indicating pH at a locus, preferably as indication of presence of microbes, comprising a polyurethane network having immobilised therein one or more hydrophilic copolymers, the or each said copolymer comprising:

hydrophilic monomer; and

METHOD FOR OBTAINING FETAL CELLS AND FETAL CELLULAR COMPONENTS
20180360429 · 2018-12-20 · ·

Methods are disclosed for non-invasively obtaining fetal cells from a pregnant female. The methods include placing an absorbent medium in an interlabial or intravaginal space or adjacent to the perineum at the vaginal opening of the pregnant female, and collecting vaginal fluid comprising cells in the absorbent medium while the absorbent medium is interlabial or intravaginal space or adjacent to the perineum at the vaginal opening. The absorbent medium is removed and cells are isolated from the absorbent medium to obtain the fetal cells. The fetal cells can be, for example, somatic cells, embroyic stem cells, fetal stem cells or trophoblast cells.

REUSABLE GARMENTS AND PERSONAL CARE PRODUCTS WITH EMBEDDED DIAGNOSTICS

Reusable garments and personal care products that have diagnostics embedded therein can be a 2-in-1 diagnostic and hygiene tool. In one example, a reusable menstrual pad with diagnostics embedded therein can serve as a low-cost detection tool for Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in developing regions. The pad, e.g., cloth-based sanitary napkin, can house a diagnostic mechanism so when menstrual blood hits the surface of the pad while in use, the mechanismor testing stripcan process the blood to test it for HPV markers. The pad can address a complex problem by leveraging the monthly frequency of menstrual cycles to routinely test for HPV.
