Stowable garment system with quick release mechanism
Aspects herein are directed to a stowable garment system that allows for quick deployment and donning of an upper-body garment that is stowed within a pouch located on the front of a belt structure configured to encircle the waist of a wearer. The garment comprises at least a front section and a back section, where a portion of the front section is attached to the pouch. The garment further comprises a first tab extending from a bottom margin at a first side of the back section and a second tab extending from the bottom margin at a second opposite side of the back section. When stowed within the pouch, the tabs extend through one or more openings in the pouch. The wearer may exert tension on the tabs to actuate a quick-release mechanism and enable the garment to be deployed and donned.

An apparel top for use by a user is worn about a user torso and a user waist. The top includes an outer shell portion having first and second panels, a back panel, shell outside and inside surfaces, and a bottom edge. The apparel top includes a snow gaiter having upper and lower gaiter edges, first and second gaiter ends, and gaiter inner and outer surfaces. The upper gaiter edge is attached to the outer shell portion at the shell inside surface and extends along the first front panel, the back panel and the second front panel. The lower gaiter edge is generally positionable about the user waist relative to the user torso with the lower gaiter edge extending away from the user torso. The top includes a liquid bladder sized and configured to be inflated with a liquid. The liquid bladder is attached to the snow gaiter.

In one embodiment, an extender belt for clothing is disclosed including a belt strap, a belt buckle coupled to the belt strap, and an extender button coupled to the belt strap. The belt strap is configured to be wrapped around the waist of a user and form a loop. The belt strap has a series of a plurality of openings near a first end configured to receive a protrusion or prong of the belt buckle. The belt strap further has one or more buttonholes near a second end configured to receive a button of the pants or trousers. The belt buckle is pivotally coupled to the belt strap near the second end. The belt buckle has the pivotal protrusion or prong configured to extend into the plurality of openings near the first end. The extender button is coupled to an inner surface of the belt strap near the first end. The extender button is configured to extend into a pant hole of pants that typically receive the pant button. The belt strap can have a wide portion configured to cover over an open zipper and an open waist of the pants or trousers.
Article of apparel providing shelter during a storm
An article of apparel for providing shelter to one or more people during a storm or other severe weather event is provided. In one embodiment, the article of apparel includes a cape. The article of apparel also includes at least one fastening mechanism. The at least one fastening mechanism including a pair of wrist cuffs configured to secure the article of apparel to a wearer. The article of apparel further including at least one securement mechanism. The at least one securement mechanism including a pair of arm straps. The pair of arm straps include a closure system configured to interlock the arm straps together in a locked configuration to secure the wearer to a stationary object.
