A developing cartridge may include a developing roller and a casing capable of containing a developer material, a member having a first end portion and a second end portion, the member being movable together with the casing and the developing roller, and the member having a first hole extending in a direction between the first end portion and the second end portion; and a first lever movable relative to the casing between a first position and a second position, the first lever including one end portion that functions as the point of effort, an other end portion that functions as the point of application, and a cam surface that is located between the one end portion and the other end portion and that functions as a pivot point.

A photosensitive drum is rotatably supported in a main body. A developing cartridge is detachably mountable on the main body in a state where the photosensitive drum is supported in the main body. The developing cartridge includes a developing device and a frame. The developing device includes a developing roller disposed in confrontation with the photosensitive drum to supply developer to the photosensitive drum when the developing cartridge is mounted in the main body, and a developer-accommodating portion configured to accommodate developer. The frame includes a waste-developer-accommodating portion configured to accommodate waste developer and supports the developing device that is movable relative to the frame. The frame is disposed on an opposite side of the developing roller from the photosensitive drum. An urging member is disposed between the frame and the developing device to urge the developing roller toward the photosensitive drum.

When a developing device is seen in a cross section orthogonal to a rotation axis of a rotatable developing member, a resin-made regulating blade has a cutout over an entirety of a region from a first position where the regulating blade is closest to the rotatable developing member to a second position 0.5 mm downstream of the regulating blade from the first position in a rotation direction of the rotatable developing member, and a cut amount of the cutout at the second position is 0.3 mm or more.

An image forming apparatus includes the following. An image carrier forms an electrostatic latent image by exposure. A developing apparatus stores a developing agent including toner and which develops the image carrier. A collector collects in the developing apparatus the developing agent scattered from the developing apparatus. An input unit is used by a user to select a screen type relating to a fineness of a halftone image. An adjuster is able to change strength of an electric field between the collector and the image carrier. A hardware processor which controls the adjuster to change the strength of the electric field according to the selected screen type.

A developing device includes an accommodating member, a developer carrying member, a feeding screw provided with a helical blade, a bearing portion, and a guiding portion including an inclined surface. With respect to the developer feeding direction, a position of an edge of a receiving port of the accommodating member on a bearing portion side is closer to the bearing portion than a most-upstream end of the blade with respect to the developer feeding direction. With respect to the developer feeding direction, a position of a downstream end portion of the inclined surface is remoter from the bearing portion than the most-upstream end of the blade with respect to the developer feeding direction.

An image forming apparatus executes reverse charging, toner-supply suspension, second exposure, and second charging, while a photosensitive member rotates at least a full turn. In the reverse charging, a charger charges a portion of a circumferential surface of the photosensitive member to a specified polarity. In the toner-supply suspension, before the portion, which has been charged to the second polarity in the reverse charging, of the circumferential surface of the photosensitive member passes a position at which the developer from the developing unit is configured to initially adhered to the circumferential surface, a developing unit stops supplying developer to the circumferential surface. In the second exposure, an exposure device exposes the portion, which has been charged to the specified polarity in the reverse charging, of the circumferential surface. In the second charging the charger charges the portion, which has been exposed in the second exposure, of the circumferential surface.

When a developing device is seen in a cross section orthogonal to a rotation axis of a rotatable developing member, a resin-made regulating blade has a cutout over an entirety of a region from a first position where the regulating blade is closest to the rotatable developing member to a second position 0.5 mm downstream of the regulating blade from the first position in a rotation direction of the rotatable developing member, and a cut amount of the cutout at the second position is 0.3 mm or more.

A developing device includes a toner holding member that rotates while holding a toner on an outer peripheral surface of the toner holding member and develops an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier, a control member that controls a thickness of a layer of the toner formed on the outer peripheral surface of the toner holding member, a suppression member that has an end pressed against the image carrier and that suppresses leakage of the toner, a collecting member that is provided above the control member and that does not allow the toner flowing in a direction from the control member toward the collecting member to pass through the collecting member while allowing a gas to pass through the collecting member, and a containing chamber that contains the toner falling from the collecting member.

A developing cartridge includes a housing, a storage medium having an electrical contact surface, a holder holding the electrical contact surface and movable with respect to the housing between a first position and a second position, and a roller including a first roller protrusion. The first roller protrusion is movable between a third position and a fourth position in accordance with rotation of the roller. The holder is movable in accordance with movement of the first roller protrusion. As the first roller protrusion moves from the third position to the fourth position, the holder moves from the first position to the second position.

An image forming apparatus includes a developing portion, a driving-side shaft coupling, a movement supporting mechanism, a movement member, a separating member, and a displacement member. The developing portion includes a developing roller that develops an electrostatic latent image formed on an image-carrying member, and a driven-side shaft coupling that is provided on the developing roller. The driving-side shaft coupling transmits driving force, via the driven-side shaft coupling, to the developing roller. The movement supporting mechanism movably supports the developing roller between a developing position and a separated position. The displacement member applies a force to the movement supporting mechanism, and positions the developing roller at the developing position. When the movement member moves further after the driven-side shaft coupling has separated from the driving-side shaft coupling, the displacement member moves the developing roller from the developing position to the separated position.
