An image heating apparatus includes an electroconductive cylindrical member, an opposing member thereto, a nip forming member cooperating with the opposing member to form a nip configured to nip and feed a recording material, a magnetic field generating device, a converter, a temperature detector for the rotatable member, and a converter controller. The magnetic field generating device includes an excitation coil in an inside space of the rotatable member so that a helicity axis of the excitation coil is in parallel with an axial direction of the rotatable member to produce an induced current in a circumferential direction of the rotatable member. The converter applies a high frequency voltage to the coil. The controller controls the temperature of the rotatable member by controlling at least one of a pulse period, a pulse-on time, a burst period, and a burst-on time.
CLEANING DEVICE HAVING A ROLLER SCRAPING MEMBER AND GUIDE PORTION
A cleaning device for a rotational body is provided. The cleaning device includes a scraping portion whose edge is pressed against a rotational body to which toner adheres. The scaping portion scrapes the toner off the rotational body. The cleaning device also includes a guide portion that guides a recording medium toward the rotational body, and a guide support portion that supports the guide portion. The guide support portion is disposed at a position separated from the scraping portion in a state in which the guide support portion is pressed by the guide portion that is guiding the recording medium.
PRESSING DRIVE MECHANISM AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A pressing drive mechanism, which drives a secondary transfer roller to press an intermediate transfer belt, includes: a motor that generates a driving force for driving the secondary transfer roller in a driving direction; a transmission mechanism that transmits the driving force to the secondary transfer roller to drive the secondary transfer roller in the driving direction; a hardware processor that controls the driving force of the motor to control a position in the driving direction of the secondary transfer roller; and a biasing member that biases the secondary transfer roller in a direction of pressing the intermediate transfer belt. The hardware processor controls the driving force of the motor in synchronization with a timing at which a front end of a sheet reaches the secondary transfer roller; and drives the secondary transfer roller to a predetermined pressing position by using a biasing force by the biasing member.
SECONDARY TRANSFER DEVICE
There is provided a secondary transfer device for secondary-transferring a toner image primary-transferred on an outer peripheral surface of an endless annular intermediate transfer belt to a sheet at a predetermined secondary transfer position, the intermediate transfer belt having a predetermined width and being wound around a plurality of rollers and rotating, the secondary transfer device including: a pressure-releasing mechanism that displaces a secondary transfer roller to a pressing position and a separation position; a first drive that drives the pressure-releasing mechanism; a high-speed depressurization mechanism that temporarily depressurizes a nip pressure, at which the secondary transfer roller at the pressing position interposes and presses the intermediate transfer belt in a gap with respect to the opposite roller, when a leading end and a tailing end of a sheet pass between the secondary transfer roller and the intermediate transfer belt; and a second drive that drives the high-speed depressurization mechanism.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, RECORDING MEDIUM STORING CONTROL PROGRAM FOR IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, AND CONTROL METHOD FOR IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes: a driver that presses and separates two rollers via a belt; a detector that detects a position of the belt in an axial direction of one roller of the two rollers; and a hardware processor that calculates, based on a detection result by the detector, a first movement amount of the position of the belt in the axial direction when the belt is made to travel for a predetermined time in a state where the two rollers are separated and a second movement amount of the position of the belt in the axial direction when the belt is made to travel for the predetermined time in a state where the two rollers are pressed.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS CAPABLE OF INCREASING GLOSS LEVEL OF TONER IMAGE WITHOUT INCREASING NUMBER OF PROCESSES PERFORMED BY FIXING UNIT
An image forming apparatus sets, in a case where a mode for executing a heating process a plurality of times is set, a target temperature of a fixing unit during a second heating process depending on image information about a toner image to be formed on a first surface of a recording medium immediately before a first heating process.
TRANSFER DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS INCORPORATING SAME
A transfer device includes a rotatable image bearer configured to bear a toner image to be transferred to a recording medium, a first rotator, and a second rotator. The second rotator is configured to contact the first rotator via the rotatable image bearer to form a transfer nip in which the recording medium is sandwiched. The second rotator is rotatable with the image bearer. The transfer device satisfies a conditional expression (t1+R)/(t2+R)>0.98, where t1 represents a thickness of a thinnest recording medium, t2 represents a thickness of a thickest recording medium, and R represents a radius of curvature of the transfer nip.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
