A heating device includes a heater, a safety device, and a holder. The safety device has a heat-sensitive surface facing the heater. The safety device cuts off power supply to the heater in response to reaching a temperature of the heat-sensitive surface to be equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature. The holder holds the heater. The holder has a through hole that opens toward the heater and includes a step portion disposed on an inner circumferential surface of the through hole. The step portion supports an end of the heat-sensitive surface such that a central portion of the heat-sensitive surface of the safety device is not in contact with the heater.

During execution of a printing process, the controller is configured to cause the fan to rotate at a first speed if the cover is in the closed state, and to rotate at a second speed lower than the first speed if the cover is in the open state.

A heating device includes a planar heater, a rotator, a pressure rotator, a heating device frame, a resistor, and a discharger. The pressure rotator has a conductive outer surface and presses the rotator. The heating device frame holds the pressure rotator. The discharger is in contact with the conductive outer surface of the pressure rotator and grounded via the resistor and the heating device frame.

A motor control apparatus includes a voltage control unit and a current detection unit. The voltage control unit controls a voltage when applied to cause current to flow through the coils a motor that is detected by the current detection unit. When measurement processing is performed on a set from a plurality of sets of coils having two coils each, a first detection result is obtained by the coil current flowing from a first coil of the set to a second coil of the set. A second detection result then is obtained by the coil current flowing from the second coil to the first coil. The stop position of the rotor of the motor is determined based on the first detection result and the second detection result obtained for each of the plurality of sets of coils.

FIXING DEVICE

A fixing device heats and fixes a toner image formed on a sheet to the sheet. The fixing device includes a heat roller and a ground contact. The heat roller heats the toner image formed on the sheet. The ground contact grounds the heat roller. The ground contact includes a first electrical conductive member, a second electrical conductive member, and an electrical insulating member. The first electrical conductive member is electrically connected to the heat roller. The second electrical conductive member is positioned opposite the first electrical conductive member and grounds the heat roller. The electrical insulating member is interposed between the first electrical conductive member and the second electrical conductive member and insulates the first electrical conductive member and the second electrical conductive member from each other.

An image forming apparatus includes: a housing; a fixing device that is disposed in the housing and that heats an unfixed image made of developer to fix the unfixed image to a recording medium; an exhaust device having an air inlet through which air heated by the fixing device is sucked, an air outlet through which the air sucked through the air inlet is discharged from the housing, and a flow path portion having a flow path space through which the air flows from the air inlet to the air outlet; and a mesh member that is provided on the air inlet and that collects fine particles contained in the air that is sucked.
