A sheet stacking apparatus includes a sheet stacking unit on which sheets are stacked, a sheet regulating unit, and a cover member. The sheet regulating unit includes a main body having a regulating surface regulating a position of the sheet on the sheet stacking unit, and an operating portion movably supported on the main body and having an operating surface. The operating portion is movable from a first to a second position by operating the operating surface. The sheet regulating unit is locked to the sheet stacking unit when the operating portion is in the first position, and unlocked when in the second position. The cover member includes a first surface covering the operating surface and a second surface covering an upper surface of the operating portion, and covers the operating portion with at least the first surface and the second surface so that the operating portion is not visible.
REUSABLE MEDIA PACKAGING FOR IMAGING DEVICE
A reusable media shell has a frame to hold sheets of media in an interior. A removable cap connects to the frame and its manipulation unveils the media for picking by an imaging device. The cap resides on a terminal end of the frame so the frame covers a majority of the media. A lift plate in the interior forces upward the sheets for picking. Two magnets on the frame magnetically secure the frame to magnets in a base of the imaging device and position the sheets in the base. Upstanding walls, a lid and bottom define the interior of the frame. Inserts attached to the walls allow adjustment to accommodate various sizes of the media.
SHEET STORAGE APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sheet storage apparatus storing a sheet to be fed in a sheet feeding direction includes a sheet storage portion, a first trailing edge regulation surface, a second trailing edge regulation surface, and a pair of side edge regulation members. The pair of side edge regulation members are opposite each other and disposed, in the sheet storage portion, downstream of the second trailing edge regulation surface in the sheet feeding direction. The pair of side edge regulation members are selectively detachably attached to a first position and a second position. The pair of side edge regulation members regulates positions of side edges of the sheet of a first size stored in the sheet storage portion in a width direction at the first position. The pair of side edge regulation members regulates positions of side edges of the sheet of a second size in the width direction at the second position.

An image forming apparatus comprises an accommodating unit that accommodates recording materials and has a regulating plate that regulates a trailing edge of the recording material in a feeding direction, detects a recording material fed from the accommodating unit, and measures time from a predetermined timing until a recording material is detected. An information processing apparatus receives time data obtained by a measuring unit from the image forming apparatus, classifies a plurality of time data received from a reception unit into a first group and a second group in accordance with a length of time, and determines using time data included in the first group and the time data included in the second group whether a position of the regulating plate is misaligned in relation to a reference position that corresponds to a size of the recording material accommodated on the accommodating unit.

A sheet conveyance device includes a sheet passage, a first sheet stacker, a second sheet stacker, and a sheet feeder. The first sheet stacker has a bottom and a lift. The sheet feeder includes an opening and a feed roller. The sheet conveyance device includes an assist plate supported to be movable between a first and a second position and an urging member. With the first sheet stacker mounted in an apparatus body, the assist plate moves from the first to the second position against the urging force of the urging member to allow passage of a sheet from the first sheet stacker to the sheet feeder. With the first sheet stacker removed from the apparatus body, the assist plate is urged by the urging member to move from the second to the first position to support the sheet conveyed from the second sheet stacker to the sheet feeder.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a storage portion to which a heating unit configured to heat the sheet stored in the storage portion is detachably attached, a conveyance unit, a detection unit configured to detect attachment of the heating unit to the storage portion, and a control unit configured to control the conveyance unit such that a standby time by which conveyance of the sheet fed from the storage portion is stopped is shorter when the detection unit detects the heating unit than when the detection unit does not detect the heating unit.

The sheet housing portion is drawably disposed in the apparatus main body and configured to house a sheet. The cover member is mounted to an end portion of the sheet housing portion in a drawing direction and having, in a portion facing the handle, a recess toward a sheet housing portion. A contact portion configured to come into contact with the sheet housing portion is disposed at a position corresponding to a portion in which the recess is formed, on a facing surface of the cover member, the facing surface facing the sheet housing portion.
