An image forming apparatus that transfers an image from an image carrier onto a sheet passing between the image carrier rotating and a transfer member includes a fixing unit configured to thermally fix the image on the sheet while nipping and conveying the sheet with a pair of fixing members after the transfer, at least one of the fixing members rotating; a measuring unit configured to measure surface movement speed of the sheet in a non-contact manner while the sheet is being conveyed by the fixing members; and a control unit configured to control rotation speed of the fixing members in accordance with a result of the measurement, to adjust speed of conveyance of the sheet to a target speed determined beforehand for peripheral speed of the image carrier, the control being performed while the sheet being conveyed is in contact with the transfer member and the fixing members.

An image forming apparatus that forms developer images on a continuous medium includes a control part that performs a developer image forming on an intermediate transfer body with an interval; a transfer part that transfers developer images to the continuous medium; an interval detection part that detects the interval of positions to which the developer images; and an interval information memory that stores interval information of the interval. Wherein, the control part obtains the interval information from the interval information memory when starting an operation of forming the developer image, and determines a timing of forming the developer images on the intermediate transfer body based on the interval information, and when the interval is detected by the interval detection part, the control part updates the interval information in the interval information memory based on the interval that is detected.

An image forming apparatus includes a first processing unit including a first processing portion that processes a medium, and a first housing that houses the first processing portion; a second processing unit including a second processing portion that receives the medium transported from the first processing portion, and a second housing that houses the second processing portion; and a connecting member that connects the first housing and the second housing to each other such that a specified angular relationship is established between the first processing portion and the second processing portion by orienting the first housing and the second housing in different directions.

An image formation device includes: an image formation section configured to develop, using toner, an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier based on job image information, thereby transferring a first image onto continuous paper; a hardware processor configured to determine whether or not a serial printing distance is equal to or shorter than a first threshold, wherein the serial printing distance is a distance at which the first image is printed on the continuous paper, and control the image formation section to print the first image on the continuous paper when the serial printing distance is equal to or shorter than a first threshold, and to decrease the proportion of deteriorated toner in a developer by printing the first image and a second image on the continuous paper when the serial printing distance exceeds a first threshold, wherein the second image is based on an image information.

A medium feeding unit that is configure to be mounted to an image forming apparatus provided with an image forming unit and feeds a medium to the image forming unit includes a medium introducing part that introduces the medium to the image forming unit and a medium holding part that holds the medium at a feeding position from which the medium is fed to the image forming unit. The medium holding part is configured to be positioned at one of at least two different feeding positions relative to the medium introducing part.

An image forming system includes: a first image forming apparatus that is disposed at an upstream side in a feeding direction of a belt-like continuous recording medium; and a second image forming apparatus that is disposed at a downstream side in the feeding direction of the recording medium, wherein each of the first image forming apparatus and the second image forming apparatus includes: a recording head that forms images on the recording medium by ejecting droplets from ejection outlets of the recording head; a closing member that serves to close the ejection outlets; and a controller that monitors head drive data for driving of the recording head, and closes the ejection outlets with the closing member in case a droplets non-ejection state is beyond a predetermined first allowable condition during printing.

An image forming device is provided. The image forming device includes: a conveyance unit that conveys a continuous paper, an image forming unit that forms an image on a continuous paper conveyed by the conveyance unit, a job selection unit that selects a job to be executed, and a processor that calculates an image forming distance and indicates the calculated image forming distance on a display. The image forming distance is a length in a conveyance direction of the continuous paper needed to execute the selected job.

In a front/back reversing unit, a base metal sheet having rollers attached thereon is engaged with a rotation spindle fixed to a fitting such that the base metal sheet is rotatable in a horizontal direction. When an operation of rolling up a print target medium is started and if winding tension with respect to the print target medium to be wrapped around a winding shaft becomes unbalanced, the front/back reversing unit rotates in accordance with the winding tension so as to balance the winding tension. Then, when the winding tension applied to the print target medium becomes balanced, the front/back reversing unit is returned to its original position by an elastic member, and the roller of the front/back reversing unit and the winding shaft become substantially parallel to each other.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit for forming successive images and a pattern image with developer on a transfer member, the successive images including a first image and at least one second image subsequent to the first image; a conveying unit for conveying a medium; a transfer unit for transferring the successive images on the transfer member onto the medium; a detector for detecting the pattern image on the transfer member; a controller for causing the image forming unit to form the pattern image between the first image and the at least one second image and form the at least one second image on the transfer member based on the detection of the pattern image by the detector; and a separation unit for separating the transfer member and the medium from each other to prevent the pattern image from being transferred onto the medium.

An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes: an image forming unit for forming an image on a continuous paper; a fixing unit for fixing by heat the image which has been formed on the continuous paper by the image forming unit; conveyance units for conveying the continuous paper; and a control unit for controlling the conveyance units to convey the continuous paper in such a manner that, when an image forming operation by the image forming unit is stopped, the same portion of the continuous paper, on which the image is not formed, does not remain in the fixing unit for a predetermined period of time.
