A post-processing apparatus of an embodiment includes a first tray configured to receive a sheet on which the post processing is not executed by a processing section, a second tray configured to temporarily place a sheet, an inlet roller configured to carry in a sheet discharged from an image forming apparatus into the post-processing apparatus, a first roller configured to convey the sheet to the first tray, a second roller configured to convey the sheet to the second tray, a detection sensor configured to detect whether or not there is sheet being conveyed in a sheet conveyance path from the inlet roller to the first or the second tray, and a roller control section configured to drive the first or the second roller if an image forming apparatus stops the discharge of the sheet that is being printed and the detection sensor detects the sheet.

The image forming system includes an unjamming execution section configured to execute unjamming for eliminating a sheet jam when the sheet jam is caused in the image forming system; and a control section configured to control the unjamming execution section to execute the unjamming in accordance with a position of the sheet jam or a portion of the long sheet causing the sheet jam, or both in the image forming system.

A method of controlling an image forming apparatus is provided. The method includes requesting a remote support service from a terminal or a server connected to the terminal, receiving a request for an access authorization regarding an operation related to the remote support service from the terminal, granting the access authorization to the terminal based on a user input or a pre-set setting, receiving a control command for the remote support service from the terminal, and executing an operation corresponding to the control command according to the access authorization granted to the terminal.

An image forming apparatus including: a sheet container; a sheet conveyer; a sheet detector; and a controller, wherein, in a case where a leading edge of a first sheet is positioned downstream of a first position in a conveyance direction and a trailing edge of a second sheet preceding the first sheet is positioned downstream of a second position located downstream of the first position when the first and second sheets are stopped based on a result of the sheet detector, the controller causes the sheet conveyer to convey the first sheet in the conveyance direction, and in a case where the leading edge of the first sheet is positioned upstream of the first position when the first and second sheets are stopped, the controller causes the sheet conveyer to convey the first sheet in an opposite direction to return the first sheet to the sheet container.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit configured to form an image on a paper sheet; a conveying unit configured to convey the paper sheet to the image forming unit at a first conveyance speed and convey the paper sheet in the image forming unit at a second conveyance speed; a trouble detecting unit configured to detect a trouble; and a control unit configured to control the conveyance of the paper sheet in the conveying unit and the image formation on the paper sheet in the image forming unit, wherein, when the trouble detecting unit detects a trouble from the paper sheet being conveyed, and the control unit controls the conveying unit to perform a purging process to discharge a troubled paper sheet to the outside of the apparatus, the control unit controls a conveyance speed to be equal to the second conveyance speed.

Upon occurrence of a paper jam at a circulation conveyer with a switching direction being set at a paper discharge guiding direction, a controller performs control of maintaining the switching direction at the paper discharge guiding direction and discharging sheets at a section of the circulation conveyer downstream of a position of the paper jam, the printing conveyer, and the paper discharger. Upon occurrence of the paper jam with the switching direction being set at a circulation guiding direction, the controller performs control of switching the switching direction to the paper discharge guiding direction after a sheet passing a switch exits the switch, and discharging the sheets at the section of the circulation conveyer downstream of the position of the paper jam, the printing conveyer, and the paper discharger.

A paper sheet conveying apparatus includes: a first storage unit; a second storage unit; a first conveyance path to the first storage unit; a second conveyance path to the second storage unit; a conveyance unit configured to convey a paper sheet; a switching unit configured to switch a conveyance path of a paper sheet; a cutting unit configured to cut a paper sheet at a cutting position; a detecting unit configured to detect a jam; and a control unit, when a jam is detected on the first conveyance path, configured to cut a part of the paper sheet, the part is positioned on a side upstream from the cutting position, to a predetermined length, switch a conveyance path of the paper sheet from the first conveyance path to the second conveyance path, and store the cut paper sheet in the second storage unit through the second conveyance path.

A sheet conveyance apparatus which conveys sheets fed from a first sheet feeding unit and sheets fed from a second sheet feeding unit to a merging point, inserts the sheets fed from the first sheet feeding unit into the sheets fed from the second sheet feeding unit in a predetermined order at the merging point, and discharges the sheets fed from the first sheet feeding unit and the sheets fed from the second sheet feeding unit to a downstream side includes: a jam detecting unit configured to detect a jam of a sheet in the first sheet feeding unit; and a control unit configured to newly feed sheets which are before the predetermined order, in which a sheet causing the jam is supposed to be inserted, and have not been fed from the second sheet feeding unit, and convey the newly fed sheets to the downstream side.

An image forming apparatus includes: an operating unit configured to display an operation screen, and accept a user operation; a conveying unit configured to convey a sheet along a path to one of a plurality of discharge destinations; an image forming unit configured to form an image on the sheet moving in the path; and a control unit configured to identify a conveyance destination, and cause the conveying unit to convey the sheet to the conveyance destination, wherein, when a jam in the path is detected, the control unit causes the conveying unit to suspend sheet conveyance, and causes the operating unit to display a select screen for selecting a purge destination and accept a purge destination selected by a user, and the control unit identifies a sheet to be moved to the purge destination, and causes the conveying unit to convey the sheet to the purge destination.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device, a sheet transport mechanism, a sheet abnormality detection device, an output tray, an escape tray, a notification device, and a control device. The escape tray is provided separately from the output tray, and receives the sheet, from which abnormality has been detected by the sheet abnormality detection device, and delivered by the sheet transport mechanism. The control device causes the image forming device to again form, on another sheet, a same image formed on a sheet, from which the sheet abnormality has been detected, and delivered to the escape tray, and to continue with the image forming operation on subsequent sheets, and decides, according to a predetermined condition, whether to allow the notification device to announce the sheet abnormality.
