An image forming apparatus includes a reconveying unit including a reconveying roller; and a second transmission mechanism. The second transmission mechanism transmits a drive force to the reconveying roller and includes an input gear; an output gear; an intermediate gear including first and second gears; and first and second swinging gears. The first toothless part of the first gear and the second toothless part of the second gear are provided at such a position that, when the intermediate gear is rotated by a drive force transmitted from the input gear through the second swinging gear while the second swinging gear meshes with the second toothed part of the second gear and the output gear meshes with the first toothed part of the first gear, the first toothless part reaches a position confronting the output gear and then the second toothless part reaches a position confronting the second swinging gear.

The conveyance cover is turnably mounted to a body housing, and the double-sided conveyance unit is turnably mounted to the conveyance cover. A side surface of the body housing is equipped with a first abutment surface. The double-sided conveyance unit is equipped with a second abutment surface that abuts on the first abutment surface. The first abutment surface and the second abutment surface are the surfaces against which the double-sided conveyance unit and the surface abut first when the conveyance cover is closed, if in a state where the conveyance cover is opened and the double-sided conveyance unit is separated from the conveyance cover. The abutment presses the double-sided conveyance unit toward a position to cause the conveyance cover to house the double-sided conveyance unit.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND CONVEYANCE CONTROL METHOD
In accordance with an embodiment, an image forming apparatus comprises a sheet feed section and a conveyance control section. The sheet feed section is provided with a plurality of cassettes in which sheets of a plurality of categories are stored for each category of the sheets, and feeds a sheet stored in the cassettes. The conveyance control section enables, in a case in which a sheet is fed from a cassette in which sheets to be printed after the printing surfaces thereof are aligned are stored among the cassettes, a reversal unit reversing the front side and the back side of the sheet at the time when the sheet is fed to convey and discharge the sheet regardless of a printing method designated by a user.

A sheet feeding apparatus includes a first drive roller and a second drive roller disposed downstream of the first drive roller and configured to rotate at a peripheral speed greater than a peripheral speed of the first drive roller. The first drive roller includes a drive shaft and a roller portion. The roller portion is configured to contact the sheet and is movable relative to the drive shaft in an axial direction and a rotation direction of the drive shaft. One of the drive shaft and the roller portion of the first drive roller includes a protrusion protruding toward the other one of the drive shaft and the roller portion. The other one of the drive shaft and the roller portion of the first drive roller includes a recessed portion. The recessed portion includes a peripheral wall that defines an opening such that the protrusion is positioned in the opening.

An image forming apparatus configured to form images on a first surface and a second surface of a sheet includes an apparatus body, an image forming unit, a feed tray, and a return unit configured to return the sheet having an image formed on the first surface of the sheet toward the image forming unit. The return unit includes a first guide, a second guide, and an adjuster. The first guide is detachably attached to the second guide and includes a first roller and a positioned portion. The second guide is positioned in the apparatus body and includes a second roller facing the first roller, and a positioning portion configured to contact the positioned portion of the first guide, thereby positioning the first guide relative to the second guide. The adjuster is configured to adjust an orientation of the second guide relative to the apparatus body.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device configured to form a first image on a first side of a recording medium and a second image on a second side of the recording medium, a position detector configured to detect respective positions of the first and second images, and a controller configured to perform, based on detection results obtained by the position detector, at least one of an image position correction by matching the first and second images and a magnification error correction by calculating and correcting a magnification error of one of the first and second images relative to the other. A program product used in the image forming apparatus includes a method of forming the first image and the second image, detecting the respective positions of the first and second images, and matching a position or a size of the first and second images.
