Image forming apparatus generating image forming condition based on detected images
An image forming apparatus forms an image on a sheet and conveys the sheet through a conveying path. The image forming apparatus includes a color detection sensor which detects a detection image formed on the sheet for generating an image forming condition and a white reference plate used to calibrate the color detection sensor. The white reference plate is arranged opposite to the color detection sensor with the conveying path interposed therebetween at a position where the white reference plate is not concealed by the sheet when viewed from the color detection sensor when the sheet is conveyed to the conveying path. The detection image is formed on a white reference plate side of the sheet. The color detection sensor reads the white reference plate and is calibrated according to a read result.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit to form an image on a sheet conveyed from a sheet storing unit by a sheet conveying unit, and a registering unit that registers detected sheet thickness information and detected sheet surface characteristics information. Based on information, distinct front and back surfaces of a conveyed predetermined sheet and a type of the conveyed predetermined sheet is determined. If the predetermined sheet type matches a type of an upcoming sheet on which the image will be formed and the determined front and back surfaces matches front and back surfaces of the upcoming sheet, an image is formed on the predetermined sheet. If the predetermined sheet type matches the upcoming sheet type and the determined front and back surfaces do not match the upcoming sheet front and back surfaces, information is displayed conveying that the predetermined sheet front and back surfaces are inverted.

A fixing device includes first and second rotatable members; a movable member; a first supporting side plate including an opening; a second supporting side plate; a detecting portion; a supporting plate; a holding portion; a slit portion; a first projected portion; a second projected portion; and a hole. When the position of the holding portion with respect to the height direction is regulated by the second projected portion in contact with the supporting plate, in a projection plane in which the outside of the first supporting side plate is viewed in the longitudinal direction of the first rotatable member, the flag portion is accommodated inside the opening and is in a non-overlapping position with the detecting portion. When the projected portion is engaged in the hole, in the projection plane, the flag portion is in an overlapping position with the detecting portion.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS FOR WEIGHT PROPERTY DETERMINATION
An image forming apparatus and method are disclosed. A detection light is radiated to a medium. An amount of transmitted light, an amount of regular reflected light, and an amount of diffuse reflected light are detected. A reflected-light-amount-equivalent value is obtained when the amount of regular reflected light is standardized based on the amount of diffuse reflected light. A glossy sheet-thickness coefficient is calculated by adding the reflected-light-amount-equivalent value to a transmitted-light-amount-equivalent value that is based on the amount of transmitted light. The weight property of the medium is determined, based on the glossy sheet-thickness coefficient, wherein the weight property comprises a basis weight or a thickness of the medium.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR IMAGE FORMING
An image forming apparatus including an image forming device, a sensor, and a processor. The image forming device is to form an image on recording medium. The sensor is to irradiate light to the recording medium and detect an amount of light transmitted through the recording medium and an amount of light reflected from the recording medium, resulting in a control of a printing operation of the image forming device based the amount of light transmitted through the printing medium and the amount of light reflected from the printing medium.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, PRINTING APPARATUS, AND METHOD OF DETERMINING PRINT MEDIA TYPE
An information processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit configured to acquire a measurement result obtained by a measurement unit that measures a characteristic of a print medium to be used in a printing apparatus, a notification control unit configured to cause a notification unit to provide notification of information indicating a print media type, and a storage unit configured to store information on a predetermined characteristic of each of a plurality of print media types, wherein, based on the measurement result acquired by the acquisition unit and usage history information indicating print media types used in the printing apparatus, the notification control unit causes the notification unit to provide notification of information indicating a print media type for which information on the predetermined characteristic stored in the storage unit corresponds to a characteristic indicated in the measurement result and which has a usage history indicated in the usage history information.
MEASURING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A measuring device a measurement unit configured to measure an image on a sheet, the measurement unit including a light emitting portion configured to illuminate the sheet with light, and a detecting portion configured to detect light reflected by the sheet; a supporting unit supporting the measurement unit; and a driving unit configured to move the measurement unit supported by the supporting unit in a scanning direction. A size, in the scanning direction, of a detectable range of the detecting portion in which the detecting portion is capable of detecting the reflected light from the sheet is larger than a size, in a sub-scanning direction perpendicular to the scanning direction and a normal direction of a surface of the sheet, of the detectable range of the detecting portion.
SENSOR CONTROL APPARATUS AND IMAGE APPARATUS
A sensor control apparatus includes a control unit, a plurality of sensors connected in series to the control unit. Each of the plurality of sensors includes a detector configured to perform a detection operation based on a first voltage applied from the control unit, a first switch provided on an application path for applying a voltage, a second switch provided on a supply path for supplying the voltage applied from the control unit to a sensor connected in a subsequent stage, and a conduction control unit. The control unit brings the first switch into conduction and cut off the second switch in a case where the voltage on the application path is the first voltage, and cuts off the first switch and bring the second switch into conduction in a case where the voltage on the application path is a second voltage.
IMAGE FORMATION APPARATUS, NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE RECORDING MEDIUM, AND CONTROL METHOD
An image formation apparatus includes an image former and a detection sensor. The image former forms an image on paper delivered in a first paper delivery path. The detection sensor includes an irradiator and an acquirer. The irradiator and the acquirer are arranged at positions facing each other through the first paper delivery path. The irradiator irradiates the paper with a predetermined pattern image while the paper is passing through the detection sensor. The acquirer acquires a calculation image including a transmission image formed after the predetermined pattern image has been transmitted through the paper. In the image formation apparatus, the degree of image expansion is calculated from a predetermined area including the transmission image in the calculation image, and printing conditions are adjusted according to the degree of image expansion.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus comprises a plurality of sheet detection units, provided at different positions along a sheet width direction, configured to detect the sheet conveyed on a conveyance path. A controller determines, by using the plurality of sheet detection units, a presence or absence of a sheet being conveyed in each of a plurality of regions sectioned in the sheet width direction, and determines, based on input image data, a presence or absence of an image to be formed in each of the plurality of regions. The controller further determines, based on the above determination results, whether or not the image to be formed on the sheet being conveyed is to be formed with a deviation from the sheet, and controls an image forming operation in accordance with this determination result.
