Sheets are stacked on the sheet stacking unit. The long sheet stacking unit is detachably mounted on the sheet stacking unit. Long sheets are stacked on the long sheet stacking unit. The first guide is movable along a feeding direction through a groove. The first guide is deformable into a shape that does not interfere with the long sheet stacking unit. The first guide guides a rear end portion of the sheets in the feeding direction. The first detector is provided in the first guide. The first detector detects the sheets stacked on the sheet stacking unit. The closing unit is detachably attached to the groove in the sheet stacking unit. The closing unit closes the groove.
FEEDING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A feeding device includes a loading portion, a lifting mechanism, a conveying unit, a sheet detector, a near-end detector, and process circuitry. The loading portion stacks a plurality of sheets. The lifting mechanism lifts the loading portion. The conveying unit conveys the sheets on the loading portion. The sheet detector detects presence or absence of the sheets on the loading portion at a specified height position. The sheet count detector detects a number of sheets conveyed by the conveying unit. The near-end detector detects a near-end state in which a stack height of the sheets on the loading portion is a specified value or less. The process circuitry controls the lifting mechanism based on a detection result of the sheet detector before the near-end state is detected, and controls the lifting mechanism based on a detection result of the sheet count detector after the near-end state is detected.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM STORING PROGRAM

Media level state indicator
Some examples include a media level state indicator of an image forming apparatus. The media level state indicator including a gear assembly of interconnected gears including a first gear, a second gear, and a cam fixedly disposed on the first gear, the second gear coupled to a media lift system and rotatable with a shaft of the media lift system, the first gear and the cam rotatably coupled to the second gear, a cam follower to selectively contact the cam, the cam follower moveable in response to contacting rotational movement of the cam, and a signal device coupled to the cam follower, the signal device having a first media level state and a second media level state, the signal device to move between the first media level state and the second media level state as the media lift system changes a position of a lift plate.
DETECTING SIZE OF PRINT MEDIUM USING SENSORS AVAILABLE ALONG PAPER PATH
An image forming apparatus includes a load detection sensor located on a feeder to detect whether a print medium is loaded on the feeder, an overload detection sensor to detect an overload state of a discharger, and a controller to detect a width of the print medium according to a combination of a feeder load state of a feeder load detection signal of the load detection sensor and an overload state of a discharger overload detection signal of the overload detection sensor and control an image former to perform printing by applying different print modes according to the detected width of the print medium.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes a storage unit to store recording sheets, an image forming unit, an insertion unit, including an interleaving sheet tray on which an interleaving sheet is to be stacked, and to insert the interleaving sheet fed from the interleaving sheet tray between recording sheets conveyed from the image forming unit. The control unit selects between a first mode and a second mode to execute based on a detected remaining amount of recording sheets in the storage unit. The first mode is a mode for feeding the interleaving sheet, which is to be inserted, from the interleaving sheet tray regardless of whether a presence of the recording sheet in the storage unit is detected. The second mode is a mode for feeding the interleaving sheet from the interleaving sheet tray based on that presence of the recording sheet in the storage unit is detected.
IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM
An image forming system includes a first feeding portion configured to feed a recording sheet, a second feeding portion configured to feed an inserting sheet from one of a plurality of supporting portions, and a controller configured to execute a determination process of determining whether or not there is a supporting portion usable as a new feeding source other than a supporting portion serving as a current feeding source of an inserting sheet. The controller is capable of switching between first control and second control in which a feeding process of a recording sheet is executed respectively in a first mode and a second mode in a case where it has been determined in the determination process that there is no supporting portion usable as the new feeding source.
SHEET TRANSPORT DEVICE, IMAGE READING DEVICE, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sheet transport device includes a sheet load tray on which a sheet is loaded, a detector that detects whether or not the sheet exists on the sheet load tray, a feeder that feeds the sheet one-by-one from the sheet load tray, and a sheet-load-tray ascend-descend unit that moves the sheet in a sheet loading direction to set an uppermost sheet at a sheet feed position of the feeder, and a controller. In a case where the sheet is detected by the detector, the controller causes the sheet load tray to ascend or descend before the feeder starts to feed the sheet so that ascending-descending operation for moving the sheet load tray between the sheet feed position and a descent position located below the sheet feed position is performed at least once.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes a medium storing part storing mediums, a sheet feeding part feeding the medium from the medium storing part, an image forming part forming an image to the medium, a residual quantity detecting part, a storage part, and a residual medium estimating part. The residual quantity detecting part detects a residual quantity of the mediums stored in the medium storing part as a relative residual quantity with regard to a maximum storing quantity of the mediums in the medium storing part. The storage part stores maximum storing number of the mediums corresponding to the maximum storing quantity of the medium storing part. The residual medium estimating part calculates number of estimated residuals of the mediums stored in the medium storing part on the basis of the relative residual quantity detected by the residual quantity detecting part and the maximum storing number stored in the storage part.
